did my ears hear correctly??? jolly joe kept mentioning ken would be on WGPA 1100 from 8- 10 replacing ron angle??? please let me know if i'm hearing things.
 
I heard from a reliable source that Ken Matthews will be doing an 8a-10a talk show on WGPA next week-Angle's old slot...Maybe Jolly Joe is trying out different people. Now THAT'S a long way from B104. I wonder if
the Polka legend knows what just fell in his lap?..does ken know how to polka?
 
i'm gonna assume being the number 1 radio show in the lehigh valley for 15 yrs gives u the ability to at least do the chicken dance if nothing else??? lol but yeah that's huge for wgpa. glad to hear the rumors are true. thanks.
 
this whole thing makes me wonder who approached who first. timmer approaching matthews or matthews approaching timmer? I assume it'd be the latter. yet i highly doubt matthews is that desperate to get back on air to just settle for WGPA, so he must have something creative up his sleeve. i don't think we'll just be hearing music. i think he's gonna do talk and go after the bobby gunther walsh crowd. and who knows, with some proper promotions like a few ads on channel 69 and ads in the paper, WGPA may pull in a 3 share. i can hear the chat around the dining room table now. "hey did you hear ken matthews is back on air at some weird little AM station WGPA? Let's tune in to check him out, i always was a big fan of his." Could work. We'll see!
 
Call me crazy! (believe me people have before) But wouldn't it be something if Mr Matthews is about to buy WGPA from Mr Timmer? It will probably never happen but it was just an interesting thought that popped into my head!
 
Allentown Radio is a grave yard.....BUT, he seemed to have all the charisma, looks and wanted to meet listeners.......why was he let go? they should pray for anybody who would want ro be there

also, where is Bobby Gunther Walsh? did he ever get out of jail?
 
BGW was never in jail. He continues to spout his right wing rhetoric with his pansies, Holzman, and that goofy weather guy!
 
don't call the weather guy on WAEB goofy. he's one of the bright spots. Dr. Joe Sobel (sp?) i think is his name. very well explained forecasts for the person who doesn't understand the weather. I do agree however that Gunther gets old after awhile. the idea about matthews thinking to buy WGPA is actually kinda brilliant and makes sense given it seems matthews has still been keeping his feet wet in the media business since being let go at 'AEB. Timmer's gotta be looking to sell within 5 years and my fear is losing it to some corporate radio who'll put spanish or sports or syndicated talk on it. matthews may be the savior of WGPA. good thought.
 
Gunther was in lock up, domestic abuse, i rememeber it very well.........i didn't know if he was still at WAEB at the time when it happened. All i know is, he was one of the most bizzre and insecure mornings guys i ever heard about. The man wore a suit to work, then hung around the station all day, making sure nobody was talking about him. Then he got popped and thrown in the slam, but no call letters were associated with the story, just him being a long time LV Radio personality
 
i'm sensing from listening that maybe angle was right and jolly joe has mental issues from the fact that its week 3 on wgpa and he still hasn't signed ken??? help me out here.. ken comes to town having had what??? ... 100k listerners.. and jolly joe is lucky to have 1000?? (please correct me if i'm way off here) and did i hear correctly jolly joe keeps sayin that he's losing money by having him on the air?? i was under the impression that radio was all about ad revenue and ad revenue was dependent upon listenership?? so what am i missing here??? or what is jolly joe missing?? i think i need to change my name to confused here lol
 
Joe may be losing money cause he has been having to pay for his engineering services for almost a year now!
That can be some big bucks as I understand. But I also know from speaking to Mr Timmer several years ago he is not the best business man. He called my home at 10pm to talk to my late husband(whom he had already talked to several days before) about coming to work for him. My husband was already handicapped and unable to make the walk up the last flight of stairs from the 4th floor to the 5th floor studio. Mr Timmer didn't remember having that conversation at all.
