tru "the hawker" Hawkins used to do a show on Beasley kjul..maybe he'd get voice over work..but the rest of the crew will be put out to pasture and get jobs as desk clerks at flea bag motels in Barstow if they are lucky

Nice touch, what an easy target-beat up on these old vets who
were just collecting a paycheck at KDWN. That's all you got?

Today I heard an old lady call Jim Dallas and say the KDWN sale was a government conspiracy to silence the talk about illegal immigration. Jim was polite and explained that radio is a business and that KDWN is a commodity. He also gave some history of the station and talked about the awards KDWN won in their early days. He explained everything well, but I don't think he convinced the caller, she insisted it was a conspiracy lol.

It will be kind of sad not to hear Ken Stahl on KDWN anymore.(If Beasley does indeed fire the 76 year old). He has been with KDWN since they switched to talk in 1980. I can't think of any other LV radio personalities who have been with the same station for 25+ years. Then again, Tru Hawkins has also been there forever, If I remember correctly he was doing mornings in the late 70s when they were a music station?

My favorite host on KDWN was named Cheryl Godfrey. I loved her Libertarian political opinions, plus she had a very nice voice. From what I understand she had a major fall out with Claire when she was fired around a decade ago, I heard it was a juicy story, but I never heard the details.

I am also a major Roy Masters fan. He is by far my favorite radio advice talk host of all time. He is a brilliant man, I have a collection of his books. When I was a teenager, my heart would pound in excitement when I heard the opening disclaimer of his show "the views expressed on the following program might be shocking and upsetting to you, but if you listen with an open mind you might find the peace of mind and the answers you have been searching for...now from the Foundation of Human Understanding here's your host Roy Masters".

Depending on the format, I hope Beasley keeps Roy Masters as part of KDWNs lineup. They should like the fact that he pays for the airtime.

Re: Either sports or brokered (n/t)

Unless they can spirt ESPN or Fox away from Lotus, or Sporting News Radio away from "Spike", I don't see sports radio happening on 720. They could keep Savage and build a "Hot Talk" format around him I suppose.

Or a regular N/T format...
5-9 Morning News
9-12 Local (against Rush)
12-3 Glenn Beck (against Dr. Laura)
3-6 Local (against TD Hannity)
6-9 Savage
9-12 Throw something in here
12-4 Local preferably with the 50kW, but unlikely
4-5 America in the AM/First Light/WSJ/whatever

You could pull something against KXNT. It's not as if KDWN is a complete unknown. With KNEWS about to become a wasteland and the small AM dial up there, you'd do better than some might think.

I agree, he should put together a commentary or get a show on 1230 or 1060

Ken Stall is a class act... but there is not much of a market for that in vegas nowdays...Hawkins does good voice over commercial stuff and was a good dj on kjul...but I think he and the rest stink as talk show hosts ...but good luck to them...clair the eclair reese should give them all a big departing pay check since she is getting all this bread from the sale...
