O.K. I am Serious about not understanding this one? MAYBE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME?? Listening to the radio this morning at around 7:15 and turned on WTFM ... I hear Steve and Taylor talking to "KENNY CHESNEY" ..... YES... THE COUNTRY STAR FROM EAST TENN. ..... KENNY CHESNEY!!

Why would he be on WTFM?? He said he was driving through and just wanted to say hello! Steve tells him to stop by and have breakfast with them and next thing you know he says O.K. SEE YOU IN A FEW! I was glued to the radio waiting to hear Kenny Chesney come back on the radio and to see if he would really stop by WTFM! HE DID.....TALKED ABOUT RENEE AND ETSU ...THEY EVEN PLAYED A KENNY CHESNEY SONG! ao.k. if that didn't blow me away and all I was thinking is what the heck is WXBQ'A PHONE NUMBER?? I THEN HEAR KEITH URBAN start talking! The two were coming through the TRI-CITIES together and Keith wanted to Thank WTFM for playing his music!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE I HEARD THIS ON AN AC STATION AND NOT THE KING OF COUNTRY STATION WXBQ!!???? WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING ON WTFM??

>Kenny came so close to letting the cat out of the bag, with his WTFM
interview. He said "I'll be seeing a lot more of The WTFM crew in the
near future". Could this mean a format flip for the "T"??
Might make sense with Peak being AC, Electric Hot ac and Zrock about to
go Jack, If WTFM could get a slice of Country Pie they could pull a 10 share
and move to #2 in the Tri possibly even #1 if it's done right.
We do have a Ton of Country CD's flooding our mail room all of the sudden.

Keep an EAR on WTFM after christmas.......

PS:Daryl Worley is at WTFM this morning to record Bumpers.<P ID="signature">______________

But WTFM couldn't even do that right....probably the same stupid logo... same 80's jingle package...and more than likely same air "talent"!!!!

Jacksonville, Overheard talking to his old friend from Syracuse NY, Jarrett O'Connor (Reg.VP at Cox) about openings and changes at WFYV Rock 105 Jax.
He was offered a Job with Cox in Tulsa OK last year, but turned it down, wanted to move closer to his family in FLA.
At TFM, the Receivers are in the rack for ABC's new Kix Brooks Show...check out ABCradio.com for details on that.

If someone was to REALLY take on WXBQ

I think they could half their audience. It could be huge.

For a local operation Bristol Broadcasting is a very cold place to work. Oh, heck, it would be a cold place if it were a corporate operation.

But what I find about WXBQ is it really isn't into trying anything new. While they do keep their music rotation fresh, that isn't that hard to do if you keep an eye on Nashville.

I've long felt WXBQ got its ratings because of format. It's not that hard to attract an audience in Johnson City, TN when you're playing country, and they have no real competition (Greeneville? Please!).

If WTFM changes to country, you could see a real battle. It would probably shake up the entire market for the better- trickling down to other formats as well.
