Grammy-winning saxophonist Kenny G is adding a new job to his resume: radio host.

Starting Sunday, the musician will be heard for two hours each week on KKJZ-FM (88.1), better known to its fans as K-Jazz. The program will be called "C to C With Kenny G," which the station explained stands for "Classic to Contemporary," meaning he'll be playing music "ranging from Dave Brubeck and Wes Montgomery to Esperanza Spalding and Chris Botti."

"I love jazz and grew up listening to all the great masters of jazz as well as the more contemporary instrumentalists," the 54-year-old sax man said in a statement released by KKJZ. "My new program will draw from jazz-oriented music recorded throughout my lifetime."

Kenny G (real name Kenneth Gorelick) has sold more than 75 million records since the release of his first album in 1982. His hit CDs include "Duotones," "Breathless" and "Miracles."

"C to C" will air Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m.

Smooth Jazz Network Launches Weekend Contemporary Jazz Show Hosted By Kenny G

KENNY G is about to add more to his already full plate of touring, recording and co-hosting a daily morning show, with SANDY KOVACH on the SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK. The new two-hour weekend program is called "Contemporary Jazz With KENNY G" and features songs from the past 50 years of jazz oriented music. The show will feature a diverse array of artists including GROVER WASHINGTON JR., DAVE GRUSIN, BOB JAMES, DAVE BRUBECK, PAT METHENY, RAMSEY LEWIS, ESPERANZA SPALDING, WES MONTGOMERY, CHRIS BOTTI, DIANNA KRALL, CANNONBALL ADDERLY, HERB ALPERT, RAY CHARLES, CHUCK MANGIONE and GATO BARBIERI to name a few. BROADCAST ARCHITECTURE President ALLEN KEPLER said, "We are very excited about this new program with KENNY as host. There has been so much great jazz oriented music recorded during KENNY's lifetime and we see this as a great opportunity to offer something unique and diverse to radio, while still being relevant to millions of jazz fans around the world." KENNY G added, "I love jazz, and grew up listening to all the great masters of jazz as well as the more contemporary artists. It’s been great fun going through and selecting songs for the show. Lots of memories and some new discoveries too."

You can almost hear the thought process (fade to the brainstorming session)...since the network is on it's last legs and our internet stream has no traction, let's make a show for terrestial radio with a popular name (but very terrible jock) and play a few tunes we usually wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole but continue to mix in lots of the same old crap we've peddled for years. Yea, that's the ticket (cue Jon Lovitz). By the way, my guess is that Kenny is not picking songs for the show. The powers that be will continue to try and keep their rusted iron fist in control and the G spot will voice track like a good boy. It's way past time for these guys to MAN UP. Give up the smooth jazz dream, back away, no one gets hurt anymore and everyone quits laughing.

Word is they've decided to go even more radical.Kenny will be mixing tracks by-Ornette Coleman,The Art Ensemble of Chicago,Cecil Taylor,Charlie Hadens Liberation Orchestra as well. The rap being that Kenny includes all forms of jazz. Kennys particular favortite is the BA pick by Charles Mingus-"Remember Rockefeller at Attica"
