KENNY WALKER IN THE MORNING ?

This may be old news to some of you, but it appears that Kenny Walker may be close to striking a deal with 560-WQAM as their new morning show host effective Monday August 28th. Kenny of course was one-half of the 'Kenny & Footy' duo on the 'Y-100.7 Morning Show' from July 2001 to January 2006. Kenny is a HUGE sports fan, and you may know him as the public address announcer at Pro Player Stadium during all of the Miami Dolphins home games. Kenny would probably be teamed-up with an existing on-air WQAM talent.

There are still rumours circulating that Footy could join 610-WIOD in some capacity, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Heard the same report you are talking about and it sounds like a good idea. Loved Kenny on Y-100 - had passion and was very entertaining and I hear he is a big sports fan. Someone told me that Joe Rose is going to quit 790 when his deal is up in February - anyone hear anything on that front?

Former Dolphins linebacker Kim Bokamper said Tuesday night he has accepted an offer to join WQAM's morning show (7-10 a.m.). Bokamper, who has been a fill-in host on the station, said he was told he will work with former Y-100 personality Kenny Walker. Bokamper will keep his job as a sportscaster at Channel 4.

Beginning Aug. 28, morning host Hank Goldberg will shift to 4 to 7 p.m. Jim Mandich will work 2 to 4 p.m., then join Goldberg from 4 to 5 p.m.

I created this topic by posting the original announcement back on August 03rd, and I guess it became official / public today. I didn't even know about it. NFLIS4ME scooped me. I've been busy this evening redesigning a small but integral portion of my web site.

It's great to see that Kenny has landed the morning show gig at 560. Him and Kim ('Kenny & KimBo' ?) should make a good duo. I thought that Kenny got a raw deal on what turned out to be his last morning on Y-100(.7). He's on-the-air with Footy goofing it up one morning and then right after the show is over during the ten o' clock hour he's essentially told to pack up his belongings and leave the building. That's the way it was reported in the press anyway, and Kenny & Footy essentially confirmed the events of the day. Kenny took it in stride though, and that was then and this is now and Kenny will return to the South Florida morning radio airwaves at the end of this month. I hope he's successful. I wish him the best of luck !

I'm looking forward to hearing Kenny back on the radio. I think he knows about sports too from what I am told. Interesting scenario could play out with 560 taking back the rights to the Dolphins from WAXY next year and Kenny may have something to do with it since he's the PA announcer for the Dolphins games and his wife is the head of the Dolphin cheerleaders.

I wonder if Kenny will invite his former partner Footy and his good friend the legendary Dan Marino over for some Monday Morning Quarterback talk during the upcoming NFL season ? That would be fun to hear !

You really need to know a lot. There's more than just being a sports fan.
