Eastern Kentucky Kentucky Public Radio question

A question for those in the know...

Driving home from work last night there was a very brief Sporadic-E opening. I only heard two stations, one on 88.7 on which the announcer mentioned 'East Kentucky' and 'Public Radio' and another on 89.3 which appeared to be carrying the same content. I can see that WFPL on 89.3 is an affiliate of Kentucky Public Radio but my best bet for 88.7 is WMMT though that doesn't seem to be part of that network.

Could anyone hazard a guess at what stations I may have heard? They would be a great catch as both are over 1200 miles away.

WFPL has no signals on 88.7 and in a search of the fcc database and radio locator, no public stations in ky, in, oh on 88.7

what you likely heard was was a mention of eastern kentucky or something that sounded like such.. probably a news report during a national show.

WFPL is owned by kentucky public radio.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response. Is it possible that WMMT might have been carrying the Kentucky Public Radio feed?
possibly, if they carry NPR's TOH news, but you didnt mention what time you heard things.. and a pretty exact time would be important in this case

I'm pretty sure the "Kentucky Public Radio" brand is used by a consortium of public radio stations which syndicate news packages, for example covering the Statehouse in Frankfort. I sometimes hear their reports locally on WKU Public Radio.

Right - but I was replying to Paul's off-the-cuff assertion that WFPL was "owned by Kentucky Public Radio."

If you don't know for sure and you're guessing, it's really not needed here.

I wasnt guessing, i was referring to the licensee name of WFPL.. which is listed in multiple places as "kentucky public radio, inc"
