Kenwood KDC-MP342U

Just got one about a month ago and the only thing I am disappointed about is the sensitivity of the tuner. Anyone else have a Kenwood car stereo (or the same model)? Agree or disagree?

The sensitivity is rated at 9.3dB which is good. But, there some older Pioneers with the supertuner IIID that has even better sensitivity at 8dB. 8dB is the best in terms of sensitivity. Try one of those.

You have to be VERY careful that it is the "3D" and not just the "3". The two are very different designs, and the 3D is much better - having the adaptive IF that makes them truly super.

I used to have 2 Kenwood car stereos back in the 90s. The first one had decent adjacent channel selectivity but the second seemed to have less selectivity. The second had the "CR-2" AM/FM tuner (which Kenwood called it). I'm not sure what the first head unit had was called, but I thought Kenwood took a step backwood with the AM/FM tuners in their head units. The lower selectivity led me to switch to a Pioneer with the Supertuner IIID. (didn't bother changing the IF filters)
