Welcome, you are!

Maybe, after the Dallas Observer article this week likely has crushed any hope I have, my dyslexia can get me back on the air!!!!

Me that was!!!!!!! Know glad you're to listening! ;)

And yeah, that was an honest mistake :-[

That puts them at a level with the KLUV jocks.

Considering I have been with KEOM since 1986, I'll just ignore your tripe.

Actually I let it slip out this way, on Tuesday afternoon. If someone else did it this morning, that ain't good. :(

When I was at KQZY in 1986, instead of backselling the songs and getting the info from the music log, I would just read the titles off of the carts themselves before I filed them away. On one in particular, some smart guy typed "Muskrat Hooters" instead of "Muskrat Love" on the label. I read it just like that. Thank goodness the cume on "Cozy" was pretty low on the 1am-7am Sunday shift.

I recall here in Houston a few years back, KKBQ brought in a female presence on the 10-2 slot. It must have been her first job in country and I thought she sounded very out of place. There were a few of us that got a laugh out of her backselling a Tracy Lawrence record and saying 'she is one of my favorite singers' -for those who don't know, Tracy is a man.

She did go on to bigger and better things. She is now "Fox Caster" Janice Dean on Fox News in New York.

Years ago (back in the 80s) one of my early part-time jobs was weekends at KWTX-AM/FM in Waco. Some of their tunes were on carts, and as you know there's not much room on the labels to type song information such as artist, title, song length, intro length, and end (cold or fade).

One night I had left the building and was listening to the guy on after me. He was backselling a particularly long artist/title combination, and he kinda ran some of the information together, something like, "That was 'That's Just the Way It Is' from Bruce Hornsby & the Range Fade." ;)

Radio Truth...

Lord knows I'm no genius. I've never claimed to be one.

So...I'd love to hear your ideas. Lunch is on me. Call me on my direct line at 214-525-7098.

I'd love to discuss what's on your mind that will make KLUV a better station. Heck...you might even get a job out of it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

This should be good! If one of his so called ideas is to have me VT KLUV, I'm not interested. ;D

At KLVI in Beaumont in the 70s, one overnight jock said "That was the Swedish group, A B B A" (Yes he didnt say ABBA but each letter separately!) Also Kiki Dee's "Ive got the Music in Me" was overwritten on the 45 (remember them?) with "Ive got the Muzak in Me" by the "Richard Riley" band...(Our FM had Muzak on a subcarrier and the engineer for Muzak was, yeah you guess it...)....YES, one jock accidently read the record wrong and announced it as written....OOPPS! :)

My first airshift was a Sunday morning: I'm 15 years old with a fresh Class C Restricted on the wall. I Arrive at KXCL-FM in Corsicana at 5:30 am. Fire up the transmitter and take readings. Play the sign-on cart with the national anthem. Play a song. Announce the weather. The phone rings, and it's my Mom. "What happened?" she asked. "What do you mean?" I replied. "You played a song and then there was silence for about 30 seconds." Oh crap - I forgot to turn on my mic! Song ends, I open my mic, do the weather, spin another song. Take off the headphones and find the next record on the playlist, and start trying to cue it up, but I can't make the speakers in the studio work so I can hear the song cueing. $#^@^*# I say. The song ends, I spin the next. The phone rings. It's my Mom.
"The weather was great, but you forgot to turn off your mic." Oh &*#(@_. I come back on to announce that that was "Talk to me" by Gicky Milley.

What a day.

Oh dear ;D

It just goes to show how we are all human, screw ups and all. :)

I'd like to hear a voice tracked station make such crazy mistakes!

Sorry, Robert, I didn't mean for everyone to have too much fun at your expense! But I knew you were good natured enough to take a little ribbing. ;D Ya know, if you play out the Babe/Styx thing, shouldn't the song go, "You know it's you, Styx, whenever I get weary.../...that it's true, Styx I love you."

Wonder how long KLUV PD Peter Z will be waiting for RadioTruth's phone call? I'm just glad to see that Z reads the board...maybe some of our suggestions will not fall on deaf ears. Put me down for shorter stopsets, a wider playlist (600 songs MINIMUM) and relax the constant replays of "The History of Rock and Roll." Oh, and let the jocks TALK and INTERACT and BOND with the listener. You've got some solid, excellent talent with John and Debi...let them flesh out some personality, even if it means killing one spot or one song per hour to do that.

Um... boys. I believe the thought came up about a Radio-Info soiree sans online handles? THIS would definitely be our luncheon entertainment. Peter, count us in, brotha! ;D
