What's up with this signal? I have been hearing this station for a few nights now. I checked the FCC site and it's a daytimer from Catoosa, Oklahoma. Anyone else logging this?
 
They have a construction permit for daytimes directional with 10KW, 7KW critical hours, and the signal is directed towards DFW.

What time are you hearing them?

They could be testing, or they could be "forgetting" to power off.

That upgrade hasn't been approved yet; it was accepted for filing just over a couple of months ago. So since no construction has been authorized there shouldn't really be any "testing" going on, especially outside of normal operating hours or the designated test period from midnight to 6 A.M.

You're right, and I'd guess that the FCC catches a very small percentage of the stations that consistently operate illegally at night. Unfortunately they're way understaffed and operate mainly on a complaint basis only. Now if KMOX were to file a complaint about it, we'd probably see some action taken.
 
Just wondering why they didn't try to claim Tulsa as the COL rather than Catoosa. Perhaps some exchange of courtesies (tower land, zoning, expediency)? Usually, the rimshotters want the big-name cities and tend to bury the actual one (Newark, Tamaqua, Petersburg) at ID time under an avalanche of more prestigious communities.
 
They were off Friday night. I was getting KMOX about two hours after sunset in Tulsa.

As for the COL, this station was moved from Atoka, OK. It would never have been approved for Tulsa, it had to show new service to an underserved market so Catoosa, a growing bedroom community, gets the COL. The transmitter is near Sperry, I have heard incorrect legal ID's of "Sperry/Tulsa" instead of the correct ID of "Catoosa/Tulsa"
