KETK/56's parent filing Chap.11

Recall that the introduction of Channel 19 into the Tyler market prompted a lot of people to wonder what effect the addition would have on the financial status of all three stations--would the market support them all.Perhaps the filing and finite advertising revenue are related, or maybe it's a money situation that already existed. Of course the company has only filed for reorganization, not announced it's going out of business. And whether there'll be any company-originated repurcussions at the station level, one wonders how many people will be shipping resumes and tapes in search of other places to go. Among the first results of a company getting its financial act together is the cutting of expenses--and staff.

Additionally, anyone hearing anything from the inner workings of KETK, or is the lid on tight. Not a good feeling for them, knowing the foundation is cracked and swaying.

No wonder KETK purchased used DTV transmitter equipment......Maybe this will prompt the sale of KETK......a sale to someone who can get KETK where it needs to be in the market. I always think that KETK would be much better if Phil Hurley had never left......it would have full power DTV and lots more. I tend to think of KYTX as what KETK would be like if Hurley was still there.KETK is simply a shell of a station that it once was.....they lost the Children's Miracle Network to KYTX, they are affiliated with NBC, they are way behind on DTV, and now this.......

The performance of KETK had little to do with this filing. The companies (both Com Corp and White Knight) are $373 million in debt. They just couldn't make enough to keep paying that off.
