Keven Cohen let go from WVOC

Apparently Keven Cohen has been let go from his duties at WVOC. His name has been deleted from their program schedule. He has been at the station for 19 years.

Todd Schnitt would be the most likely replacement.

High probability of a syndicated AM show for WCOS, then.

Keven is a fantastic and knowledgable sports host. I've always felt he was a bit of a fish out of water doing general/political talk.

He talked a lot of sports on the radio there. He would be a fit in Charleston. All we have is Bobby Hartin who, if you listen to him, gives you a headache.

Yes, Powell. With JR moving to afternoons on VOC, unless they are going to have him work a split-shift, a syndicated morning show is more than likely on the way. This would leave WVOC as the only station with folks actually live in real time (as close as you can get with HD, that is) on the air. Every other station is either syndicated or voicetracked in every daypart.

I wonder putting JR on WVOC afternoon's means the door is next?

Clear Channel press release says that Rod and Kelly will be doing a split shift: mornings on WCOS and afternoons on WVOC. No doubt at least part of the WCOS shift will be tracked. If I had to guess probably the 6a and 9a hours...

Done the split shift thing before. I can't see the arrangement lasting in the long term just because of the physical and mental wear.

Actually, I do. But its a Boston Acoustic Recepter which is pretty deaf. It cannot receive in analog most of the downtown Class A's, including WVOC (ex WXBT ex-WSCQ) or WARQ or WWNQ, so HD is out of the question on those stations. The Class C's it does pretty well on.

I have a Radio Shack Accurian, and though I can get WVOC it is not very good, and 99.9 Asheville booms in so NO HD on 100.1. I just got a Sangean HDT-1 with a handfull of hours on it, and on AM (right here at WKDK in the HIGH RF field ) it got 560 with no trouble. I got a few HD FM stations on a piece of wire.
