Matthews appears to be making alot of references to working with Mancow on Q101. Can anyone add any info on this?

there will be a new morning man. But, at 49 years of age, I
think Kev`s a little too old for Emmis` LOOP?

No guys, all Kev is talkign about, is that he will be on Mancow's Morning Madhouse this morning, and only this morning. Mancow is pushing for Kev to get on the Loop during Midays. He has said it again and again. He would never put somebody up against him, we'll see what happens though.

This *might* end up being more permanent than most people think. Emmis let go of Zander as he more than likely got a nice severance, adjusted the on air schedule, to alter it and again in the future? It could have been left alone, saved the compnay money, until this "possible" morning show replacement is selected.
This music intensive shift being run, decided by listeners is opposite of what Mancow offers. And in Emmis's best interest, at this time.
Furthermore, anyone they put on LUP that is high profile, will have to NOT step all over Mancows demos. A tough deal.
*If* anyone high profile, high ticket was to be selected for LUP, they would have to make sure that they would carry the station and be worth every penny like Mancow @ Q is.
Kev, could, be in the running, *especially* depending what WCKG ends up doing in AM drive, or even overall. Reason below:
RADIO 101 CLASS IN SESSION
A)Kev is doing the right thing, he is keeping his name hot in the griddle.
B)Radio personalities mean NOTHING and make NOTHING until they are in "High Demand" courted by 2 or more stations.
<u>EXAMPLES:</u>
Note the following:
* E&J (Became very valuable when WKSC wanted them, to the point Infinity pulled them off the air)
* Mancow (Who didn't want him?)
* Mike North (How much did Infinity finally give him AFTER others showed interest)
* Gary Meir. WHO???? Yep, he wanted more, no one else wanted him, ABC/Disney showed him the door. He STILL is not on air.
If you can absorb and understand this, you have graduated to the next level.
Class dismissed.

LOL - No, I'm not waiting for a call back from Topeka, KS. Not really interested in that market by any means. No bitterness. Granted, I still need to give Zakk more of a listen to get to the entertainment value of his show and a feel for his personality. But I had a hard time listening when I did tune in because his voice is annoying to me, similar to why some people can't stand Pete McMurray, and I didn't hear anything special at all during that time I did listen. So from that session, he came across as nothing special. He just didn't come across to me as a good fit. I'll have to try to give him more of a listen and see if my opinion changes.
But, hey, what the hell. If they're looking for a jock in Topeka, KS have them give me a call.

I would presume that competing stations could include those from other markets, or would that be less of a factor than the in-town competition (i.e., not as much concern about the personality taking audience share with him across town)?

You are right, out of market does factor in on demand, but in market is the most intense.
