Kevin Collins, Jr - R.I.P.

Kevin Collins, who spent time at WJLK and WCHR-FM, lost his battle
with Cystic Fibrosis and left this life on Sunday, December 28th, 2008.
I believe Kevin was only 24 years old. He was doing afternoons in
Binghamton at Star 105.7.

If you'd like to help battle this killer disease, send a donation in his name to
the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, New Jersey Chapter, on the web at

Kevin really was a great guy...Always super friendly, with a smile on his face...he made a lot of people laugh, and will definitely be missed...

We love you buddy...

It's all too easy easy to take each day for granted, but then you see a tragedy such as this one strike someone who deserves it the least and it's simply incomprehensible. I consider it a privelege to have spent some time working with Kevin as he always had a way to turn someone's bad day right around while always shining the spotlight on life's "good" things. I cannot think of anyone who deserved this less. Radio lost a good guy for sure!

Rest in Peace my Friend... My condolences to the Collins family.

You are missed already!

Just about a week ago maybe I had heard he was in the hospital.
Today I just found out he had passed on at quite an early age.
My condolences go out to him and his family.
He was a great person to have known and worked with.

Tom, Thanks for posting that. I am proud to have called him a friend. He certainly left his mark and will not be forgotten.

Kevin was a dear friend to so many of us at B98.5, The Point, The Hawk and G Rock. It went beyond the typical co-worker bond that some people have. Kevin was one of us. A hard-working guy who always took on any and all challenges, Kevin was always willing to learn even more each day that he worked.

Very few of us knew that his battle with CF had taken a drastic turn. In fact, we didn't know he was even in the hospital for as long as he was because he kept it very quiet. The LAST thing he wanted was anyone to worry about him.

My fondest work-related memory of Kevin was when he told me that he had listened to me when I was doing nights at B98.5 and he mentioned to me how he wanted pointers on the basics of on-air formatting. It was humbling to say the least. If you look at ANY picture of Kevin, he's ALWAYS smiling. I don't ever remember him ever having a day where he was out with the group of us and he wasn't happy (maybe if the Dolphins lost, but that's another story lol).

Kev-o, you will be missed greatly by all of us who called you a friend. We know you'd be mad at all of us if we made this as big of a deal as we have, but it is a testament to just how many people cared.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Rest In Peace buddy.

-Knight.
