Kevin Keane

The WTAM/1100 "Sportsline" host is on the outs after an eight-year run.

Nothing as to how, or why. Even though Kevin's page is still there, Mark Schwab has taken over on an interim basis, presumably until the start of the Cavaliers season. After that, anyone's guess...

Was he axed when the Cavs game started last night then? He was on right before it. That would be one of the more odd firings if this turns out to be true.

I got word of it at just after 9 PM Friday night from very good sources inside Oak Tree.

I didn't know there was a Cavs pre-season game Friday night (or that Kevin Keane was on before), but Mark Schwab was on after it, and wasn't saying he was in for Kevin Keane on the air. The liners were his. That may or may not mean anything - even before this, Schwaby could have been scheduled post-game anyway.

As I noted on my item, it doesn't appear Kevin is "gone for cause" either on-air or off-air.

There are other "shoes" that could drop after this, but I haven't confirmed them yet. If they happen, this will be clearer.

Hey All, I'm new to this board, but it was all I could find that has discussed the departure of Kevin Keane from WTAM. I was wondering if anyone knew any more about the circumstances surrounding his leaving the station? Also, I'd be very interested in knowing if he's latched on somewhere else in a similar role. If there's any more information out there that I haven't come across that you could direct me to, that would be great also.

Kevin was basically the odd man out in the WTAM schedule shuffle, prompted by the return of Glenn Beck to mid-mornings.

That bumped Bob Frantz's midday talk show into evenings, and bumped Kevin out of the building.

What other internal dealings ended up in that being the result? I don't know.

To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Keane has yet to land, radio-wise.

with any luck he'll land at KNR and Kenny Roda will find the door. That dude's clock should have run out a long time ago.

Heh... remember when Kevin was the "20/20 Ticker" guy FOR Kenny Roda's show on WKNR back in 1997? THAT would be irony.
