Memory like a steel trap. Where'd the "face down in the gutter" and "sorry I asked" posts go?

I have no control over what stays and what goes off this board. I think the comments that were made about Kevin were completely out of line. Kevin is a very talented person and I'm sure he will do very in the future. His talents are not confined to to radio or television. I do know that Kevin, like a lot of us has radio and TV in his blood and will soon be back working in the business doing what he loves to do.

thanks tom, as you know i worked with kevin at warm. when he was let go at wilk i did hear from him,he told me his mom wasnt well, and he sounded o.k. but ever since then i havent heard a word, and i asked if anyone new where he was. now, if you dont like kevin, that your choice, but as you said tom, this is no place for the kind of posts that were on this site. by the way tom, like your tv spot thats running.. see, your never to old.. keep up the good work.. sam

That may well be but I don't hear the word "talented" when his name comes up (and it doesn't come up all that often) nearly as much as I hear the words angry, bitter, whiny, egotistical, and malcontent.

I wish no one ill will. But I say good riddance.

You sound bitter and there's no reason to be..Talent dosen't always come with a personallity attached to it.

your right again tom, the true professionals in the broadcast business have respect for one another...its one thing to be critical and analyze anothers performace, but being nasty and putting people down , doesnt improve anything.

Yeah, yeah. You guys can pretend it's about talent and professionalism all you want. Fact is he wasn't fired from practically every job he's ever had because of his talent. Hooray for professionalism and respect and all the rest but you're kidding yourselves if you think there's something about this business that precludes us from telling the truth.

do you ever have anything positive to post? ive read some of your other posts on this site, and besides the dirty comments in the rock 107 topic, that was moved to outside norhteastern pa. what is your problem. i thought this site was for opinons, and comments. your just a nasty person. get over it already.

Aside from the fact that those are my opinions and comments, you're right. No point in beating a dead horse. My apology.

Respect is earned, not entitled. Kevin treated his co-workers like dirt, the interns like trash, and was a dousche to the listeners in person. The man should never work again

I did notice that many spots voiced by Kevin are no longer being done. Not just radio spots, but TV as well. Most notably the Benton Rodeo. I don't know if it coincidence or not.

He had a column in the Times Leader sports section. It was Mon and Wed. Saw a few of them, they were good, but he is gone. I don't know why.

My $.02
I've met Kevin twice. Both times he was rude and ignorant toward me. No big deal- not everyone's gonna like you, I was told years ago.

But, when you start hearing a person treats others like that, a pattern begins to form. And it's not a good one. Think about this- you could hire one of two people. One seems to be a genuinely nice person- the other a jerk. Who are you going to hire?

On the other hand, I've met Tom a couple of times while I was at WVIA and cannot tell you what a great pro he is. Ask the production folks there- when he comes in to do some V/O work for the auction, they hate seeing him leave.

We could all learn something from Tom's professionalism.

Kevin is a better writer than on air personality. He can make his point in a short amount of words and he doesn't have to be challenged on his opinion. As far as radio, I don't think Kevin was completely without talent, but not enough to make interesting radio. He was a known name from his TV days. He fell into radio in a round about way and managed to make enough of a nuisance of himself to stay on the air. All you have to do is listen to the morning show now. John is a radio guy. He makes the time spent listening fun and entertaining and that is, after-all, what radio is all about. You can even notice the difference in co-workers. Nancy is there for the full 3 hours and Joe comes back for the last hour. It makes them all better and thus a better show. The in your face style can't work in a small market for a sustained period of time. You can only insult so many callers before you start insulting friends/relatives of advertisers and then the advertisers themselves. Michael Savage can get away with it, he is nationally syndicated. Kevin could not and I think he managed to hang on as long as he did by the good intentions of others and I have heard he wasn't much of a financial outlay. I am starting to think the same fate may befall Corbett. I know his ratings are good, but has anyone noticed that the spots he voices never seem to get renewed. They do the 2-3 months and then they aren't back on. Non-repeat sponsors usually indicates the advertisers are not happy with either the announcer, the results or both.
