Kevin Scott and Greg Hill

or as I like to call it, the Michael Irvin Wannabe and the Generic White Guy show. I hate that show! How long does everyone give it before they are canned?

I can only hope they are gone soon! I can't even stand to hear their cross talk with Jagger, I feel for him! All they've done is robbed me of the extra half hour Jagger used to have...

I disagree. I've been negative of the station but I think Greg Hill is probably the most refreshing sports talk voice in DFW right now. He actually gives opinions.

I would love to know the motivation behind the poster who started this thread. First post ever 5 minutes after registering?

Five minutes? I figured it was more like three but oh well. I registered so I could post...why else would I have registered?

Motivation? There was no motivation behind post other than wanting to know what other people think of the Michael Irvin Wannabe and Generic White Guy show. I tried listening to their show a few times but today was HORRIBLE! How long can anyone listen to the Michael Irvin Wannabe rag on ESPN for their upcoming story about Adam "Pacman" Jones? I finally had to text in and say enough was enough with the ESPN bashing and what do you know, after their commerical break MI Wannabe came back on air and said he wanted everyone to know he wasn't bashing ESPN and further stated that he loves ESPN and watches it daily.

They should syndicate Jim Rome on that station and get rid of those two. Just because you could play football back in the day doesn't automatically make you a good broadcaster..

Well you have the right idea, except it's the ones who create an account and then their first post kisses the a$$ of their favorite show host, that you have to question. Usually in those situations, its the host him/herself, or a dear friend, that does this sort of thing.

Having said that, who really cares what the motive may be?

I guess what I've been enjoying about the show is that Greg Hill seems to have actually made Kevin Scott worse then I remember him on the Ticket. I think Scott's Bachelors of Schtick degree from Susquehanna/Cumulus U. isn't taking him very far in interacting with this guy. I really feel that he is more the problem and he probably needs to grow a pair or simply replace him with someone who wants to go toe to toe with Greg Hill. I don't get the sense that Greg Hill wants to do top-ten lists anytime soon.

In comparing this show to Michael Irvin, other then the obvious black athlete/white guy stereotyping, I think the comparisons end there. Michael is certainly well connected and I'm sure a lot more well off. I think there's a huge edge to Irvin when it comes to guests but for compelling content, I prefer Greg Hill.

They would be good if you could see the way they look at each other when they start getting in to an argument.

Both will stand up and look at each other yelling.

But I agree as much I like Greg Hill because of his playing days with the K.C Chiefs G-Hill and K-Scott are horrible.

When I went to the live remote last friday at Starpower I couldn't believe how long they were talking about the Cowboys. It makes me sad to see this topic get so saturated with Greg Hill, Kevin Scott opinions.

Bring back B&S to middays, have them do more than just sports talk, and I love the idea of broadcasting Jim Rome.

Does anyone know if 105.3 has hired sports producers or anyone off-air who wasn't already there during the Live 105 days? I agree totally with Outlaw that ks + gh do tend to drag topics wayyyy too long. I'm just wondering they have support staff who's actually worked in sports radio before.

Jagger still has Jimmy Ryan as the producer

K-Scott and Greg Hill I'm not sure have a producer, or who it is.

B&S still have Eric Marc as the producer

M-Rod and Pete Stein not sure about that show.

The reason why I mention this is today and pretty much every other day I find myself in the car around 1:30pm. I bounce around the sports stations and i think this was either the third or fourth day this week that KS and GH were discussing the Cowboys signing Michael Vick. Nevermind that this isn't really a legitimate topic at this point in time, but seriously, is anyone behind the scenes telling these guys they are beating a dead horse and just because it lights up a few phone lines is not an acceptable reason to keep a topic going.

You can get phone calls all day long in news talk if all you talk about is gun control or abortion...doesn't make for good radio.

Exactly! Thursday was a big sports day because of the BCS Championship that night yet MI Wannabe and the Generic White Guy only talked about Pacman Jones being released. Honestly, who cares if that freakin' thug was released.

Another thing that peeved me on Thursday was that MI Wannabe keep saying "I bet ESPN's "Outside the Lines" is going to get huge ratings because we're talking about it"...seriously, you think you have that many listeners? I'd bet that the 3am SportsCenter has more viewers than MIW and GWG have listners.

There's a reason it's called The Fan. It's caller based sports talk. So yes, it is an acceptable reason. It's the MAIN reason. Listener opinions. If they want to talk about it, then so be it.

Check the latest PPM reports. Ratings for The Fan continuing to go up. May not be your cup of tea (or mine), but it's obviously working out for them.

I thought the last PPM ratings came out when "the Fan" had only been on for two days.

The PPM system works differently. Unlike the diary system, the PPM system results are updated weekly, which means the data is updated more frequently than with the diary system.

But if you knew of what you spoke, you'd know that the weeklies that were released Monday were for the last full week of December before Xmas. So while it's more than the 2 days, if they switched around december 8th, these latest ratings are from days 7 through 14 of their existence.

I can totally buy that their ratings went up from the week before, their first week on. As more people hear about them, they'll flip over to check them out. But will they stick around? How many KTCK or ESPN listeners flipped over to check it out in the first month, only to go right back to their old station?

And if the ratings are going up, I wonder why they added Tom Cowlishaw to the Ben and Skin show. If they were doing good, and ratings were improving, why add another voice to the mix? Especially one who serves to be the "serious" sports voice of the show, thereby undercutting what little sports credibility B&S might have had.

Excellent point little one. You bring in the 'shaw because you just took the Hardlines legitimate competitor, Russ, off their air and replaced him with a show that has no chance to succeed head to head vs. The Hardline. CBS just made the Hardline stronger. And I seriously doubt the Galloway listener moves to BS&SHAW.

The FAN looks like the moves of radio monkeys that spent too much time on their fantasy football teams.
