Kevin Steele Leaves Cox

I heard a rumor that Kevin Steele was let go from Cox's North Georgia cluster (formerly Southern Broadcasting), where, among other things, he was PD at WNGC.

Kevin is a truly nice guy and one of the real radio people.

I hate to hear that,he is such a nice guy,I would call him sometimes to see if Cox radio in Athens was hiring, and he always gave it to me stright. he will land somewhere.

I know this will never happen because of finances, but hear me out. As much as I love Madison on 94.9/The Bull during mid-days, the fact that she is V.T. from Birmingham became all to apparent this week (actually today). So they had Trace Atkins in the studio at lunch time for an interview, but since Madison is of course not in Atlanta (and I have to give credit to the Bull for this one), they turned it into a contest where the winner got to come in and do the interview. Now they could've just gotten Lance in there to do it, but they were somewhat creative in the whole listener interview contest thing. I guess my point is if they had someone live (like Kevin Steele) in there, he could've done the interview, and probably done a great job. Like I said, finances being what they are I know this will never happen, good thing Madison is easy on the ears.

Kevin is a great guy, knows radio, believes in what he's doing, works as hard as he's asked to work, and is a true professional. Exactly all the things radio companies are trying to purge themselves of.

I remember emailing Kevin when he was at Star asking him for advice on how to get in radio... not only did he respond but gave me great feedback and inside information that ended up helping me land a gig at 96rock. And when I lost my gig at 96 he hired me on site to work for him in Athens. I owe Kev a lot and it angers me what's happen to him and so many other good people in radio.

Memo to Kevin: I'm available when you land your next great job. I'd work for you in a heartbeat!

I've never met or worked with Kevin, but I know many who have, and they all echo the comments I'm reading here. He's apparently one of the truly good guys in radio. Hope I get the chance to meet up with him some day. And I hope he lands on his feet somewhere great very quickly.
