Kevin Winter lands update gig on 'D&C'

How is he going to keep his ESPN duties? He does weekends for them, I believe. Is he going to work 7 days a week? Will he be in Brighton every morning or can he do it remotely from Bristol? I

Considering the NESN simulcast, I'd imagine he'd be in studio in Brighton every day.  If he was just a flash guy, he could do it remotely since NESN airs their own "flash" on the television side in lieu of airing the radio flashes (the once an hour "Meter Minute" being the exception).  But he's probably going to be involved in the show beyond the flashes, just like Meterparel (and the fill-ins) did, which would make for some awkward TV for him to be a disembodied voice all the time.

I'd bet it's more likely he does ESPN weekends remotely from Brighton than the other way around.

I was kind of rooting for Pete Sheppard, but this guy sounds OK. I was afraid that affirmative action would dictate that they hire the foul mouthed woman who auditioned earlier.

I'm surprised that Chad Finn gets any information from WEEI. He has been a harsh critic and has openly rooted for 98.5 and against WEEI since they went on the air. Why would anyone over there give him anything? Or does he have a mole?

Any estimate on what this job pays?

I'm guessing he get paid the same as the Hosts? But I could be wrong.

I thought D&C made about a half million each. I doubt if Meter walked away from that to do PBP for BC.

Is that a joke?

Best laugh of the day. I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything. Didn't Winter work in Prov before their sports station flipped?

Somethings not right. Everybody knows who the people's choice would have been. I'm trying to think how they are saving money on this?

Winter worked at ESPN 890. I think he was there for the full four years, part of which he was working at ESPN Radio. I don't know what he did before 2005, but he was working at 890 when the Providence sports station flipped.

I thought Pete had it wrapped up, especially after his kerfuffle with Borges. I seem to recall some bad blood between Dennis and Pete. I wonder if Dennis kiboshed it.

Meterparel is not a BC guy.

Yeah I know Meter went to Ithaca but for better or worse he is the VO BC sports. I'm positive I heard/read Winter had gone to BC somewhere but that obviously was incorrect.

While John may have had input, the choice wasn't his. I think Pete had run-ins with almost everybody --though lacking in malice-- esp. Dale.

I would have picked 2-3 others. Maybe they are looking for something else though or the fix was in?

I think Winter replaced Amy Laurence at 790Score. Both ended up at ESPN after brief stays in Prov.

He went to Hofstra. Class of 2000.

Wrong on the first part. Winter was in Boston at CN8 and ESPN 890.
