Kevin Winter out at WEEI

I didn't like him at all. He didn't talk, he screeched. It was like having Danny from Quincy on the show.

Somebody tell Jason Wolfe to try listening to Muttnansky.

I'm not going to look for it, but said at the time of his tryout that he wouldn't be my choice. There's nothing wrong with him, he just isn't a Boston-type (and that's important). It does suck, sorry.

Obviously change is coming to the margins before the $$$ contracts are up. But it won't work. They lost and nothings changing that.

Curiouser and curiouser. Chad Finn is an unabashed WEEI hater and delights in writing things that make them look bad. Also he cites "industry sources" rather than WEEI. The guy from Boston Business Journal probably doesn't have an axe to grind with WEEI. We also know that Jason Wolfe is very slow to correct his mistakes. So which version do we believe? Is Winter still, in fact, employed by ESPN?

I guess it doesn't matter. I'm just glad he's gone.

EEI, but my time commitments at ESPN Radio were just too consuming f
I think this may have been brought up in the hiring process (like in the first few min's). To be surprised about "commitments" now seems a bit insincere.

I feel bad for Winter. Thought he was a bad choice to begin with but to be ousted in 6 weeks is tough to swallow.

I think this is just another long list of terrible programming decisions that Jason wolfe has made. How does this guy still have a job? Under his watch... EEI has sunk to its lowest ratings since it flipped to sports, his pairings of Mutt and Lou and Ordway and Holley have been a disaster, WERS gets betters numbers than RKO in the last book or almost better, which wolfe oversees. EEI will never be successful with Wolfe at the helm, he has got to go.

I heard a few min's of the show yesterday and Gerry was trying to bludgeon Winter into admitting the Celtics were better without Rondo.

KW was trying to stress that while they were playing more effectively they were weakened personnel-wise at the same time.
I guess it didn't sound too good to wolfe. I'd only let the update guy jump in when cued, but Winter seemed free to do what he wanted.

That is part of the problem. Jason grew up in Lexington hating hockey and when WEEI went all sports remember who owned the station. (Celtics)

Ordway hated Jacobs going back to when he did color with Bob Wilson on WITS and one night was terrified when he was finishing his show close to Midnight when the Garden went totally dark and the Bruins let the K-9's lose in the arena.

Jason was blindsided when Boston embraced the 2011 Bruins far more than the 2008 Celtics and 98.5 was hockey friendly. The Red Sox collapse in 2011 just made things worse.

I was told by an Entercom sales rep that WEEI LOST 3 million $ in 2012 mainly because of the Red Sox contract. Compounding this for Entercom was losing the nice safe revenue stream from Mike-FM. That leaves the cluster with WAAF/WKAF and WRKO.

Don't be shocked if Entercom unloads the cluster for a lowball price.

If Jason thinks that Kevin was the problem with that show, I have some beachfront property on Plum Island with a nice view to sell him!

a funny thing on Glenn Ordways twitter he wrote to Kevin after the news came out that he was let go and said sorry for the news, now only days later hes feeling the same effects.
