KEY WEST & ED RODRIGUEZ

:eek: WOW! Thanks for that link, P-R. Can't somebody get sued or even fired for posting that kind of stuff? Doesn't look very smart. I noticed the Marathon station keeps going off the air over the last few days so I called US-1 and some guy ansered the phone and said they didn't handel that station from BPK/US-1. Did Vox sell it WAVE? Every time I called Ed R. to tell him it was off, he thanked me and it came back on. Of course, it went off again in a day or two! :D But at least he was tryin'. I keep hearing rumors that the New Yorkers or Miami boys who are buying WKEY and WAIL are talking to Rodriguez. I heard that 107 wanted him to come there too. Is he in Maryland already? Are these genius really going to try to fire Steve Miller and Robin from Conch Country? What about Lia/Leah? Looks like they got Allen Chuch off his Saturday too. What's going on at US-1???? Doesn't look good to me. Not at all. Anybody going to KOA to see Mile Marker 24 tonight?
 
P-R, Thank You for the link to this guy's blog..Five bucks says Vox Management finds this in the near future and keeps it in their arsenal.

Another five agrees with BPKPirate that more of the air staff will either run for the hills or get kicked to the curb at no fault of their own.

Will BizBaz survive on US1 or well Leah/Leiah(?) leave to? and to P-R for digging up that blogg ;)

I just checked the FCC site and no sale/transfer of control for WAVK is shown. Doesn't mean something hasn't just happened or that an LMA hasn't be drawn up recently.

When I spoke with Ed Friday morning he was still in the Keys. He's lined up something in DC for the time being. I asked if he would go to the new company in KW/Keys...he told me he would not rule anything out. His attitude is good...positive...upbeat.
 
What's happening at US-1 radio? Yesterday on BizBaz, Lia said that Ed Rodriquez had left to sell shirts! And today she apologized and said she was joking. Something is wrong at Conch country too. Yesterday no one was one after 3 and there were no dj's until after 6. Are those stations fr sale now?

I heard the same silence ringing loudly on Conch Country yesterday afternoon. I can neither confirm nor deny the stations being for sale, but the way things are sounding lately - Selling to a more capable management team must be their only way to better the stations

Did anyone hear the new afternoon jock on US1-Radio today? She sounded untrained and unprepared!! :eek:

Ed Rodriguez's replacement has not proven himself on BizBaz thus far, the on-air chemistry between him and Leah is invisible at best and he seems to upset clients when they call in..??
The Mark Masca-teering of these fine stations is something Vox should feel deep shame for. They are digging their own grave at this point.

Overheard today - more rumors thrust into the public regarding the exit of more staff at both WWUS and WCNK. Is it TRUE?!!!
 
Does that new girl on US-1 mean that they have fired Steve Miller like that guy said would happen at No Name Pub last week? Damn shame. Robin is still on Conch today. Did anyone hear that dude saying that they hit a turtle on the way to the Dry Tortugas? Wonder what the Yankee Freedom folks thought about that comment.
 
Has anyone else been keeping up with this new guy's blogg? He gives net worth's of trips that are trade for Vox. I'm sure those clients will be happy about that. :-\

Vox- Florida Keys, will self destruct from within, in the next 30-60 days. I feel sorry for KB. He was warned but he still supports the "virus" that is "within".

Expect some new big news soon regarding the staff that still knows how to run the operating system. They (staff) are not going to take it anymore.

Is Bill Becker sick of it all? Is, or has he, spoken to the new owners of CC?

Of course, this is all just my opinion. Funny how a station can destroy itself without any outside help.

Only the top manager can do that.
 
listenandwin - Agreed. In fact, the best thing CC could do is offer Bill Becker a higher salary and lure him in to be the face of their stations.

Are you honestly trying to tell me that Vox of the Fl Keys could survive without him? NOT A CHANCE!!

More changes to come in the Vox building is no shock. and sadly for the winning legacy of US1, the changes so far have only been detrimental to the well being of those stations. How could management let this happen? Has anyone heard BizBaz lately?

The weakest "team member" is now the strongest as the new hires have no clue. They don't even know the operating system. Something that works in favor of those about to depart.
 
I don't know who the hell the weakest team member is listenandwin but I know that there was no love being shared at the Boat Races in Marathon over the weekend. It figures that a pirate would be the one playing peacemaker between the two big "stars!" Is the fat guy the new straw boss? Looks like Lia is about to kick his butt in public. She's already mouthing off to him on the BizBaz.
 
From having listened to US1 Radio frequently for some time, it seemed that there "team" has been strong up until this point. The two new additions to the crew are acting as a wrench in the spokes of Vox's success in the future.

It never appeared that anyone there was "weak" before now, care to digress?
And to BPK Pirate, the animosity betwixt Leah and Ed Rodriguez's filler is the loudest thing on US1 Radio at the moment. Good to know others hear it too
 
The issue is at the top of the food chain. Not the on air folks, or the Production person who is about to be fired by another Production person, who they just hired. How is THAT for good management?

They are victims of a guy who is extremely stressed out and has no clue how radio works. Just my opinion. The "new folks" are a product of "stressful" thinking, firing and hiring. "Frantic" is a better word on the management style of Vox in the Keys.

As a result, the product is and will be open to attack from those moving in who are not friendly to this type of management style.

In other words, people who care about people are coming into the market. THIS will only add more stress to a guy who is aleady a top manager at Vox. Again, just my opinion.

The G.M. wouldn't know a public file if it jumped up and bit him, his choices are a clear indication that he has NO CLUE what he is doing. Is that five (or more) staff changes in the past year???! Why does corporate give him the blind eye?

Messy, ignorant management. There failure will probably protrude from their ratings in the future. Word in the big pine grapevine is that Ed Rodriguezs replacement has never been a PD. When will Vox get the hint that they have made a grave mistake?
 
Well, I ran into Ed Rodriguez at the Publix in Key West. He said that he'd been fired on May 3 and had two jobs lined up within an hour. Nice guy. He seemed more amused by all the stupidity going on around him than angry. In fact, he didn't seem angry at all. He did say that he had concerns for the staff of US-1 and Conch Country. He was especially worried for Robin of Conch Country since they had demoted her as he was leaving the station. US-1 used to be the class act of the Florida Keys. Now with Lia and whoever the idiot in charge calling the shots it is just a joke. That new gal on the afternoon show couldn't shine Steve Miller's shoes. How many times is she going to tell us about all of the roads being okay. Guess what sweetheart-We ain't got but one road in and out of the Keys! If they get to messing with bill Becker and Don Riggs that station will be dead in the water. I don't know how to put the link in here but Ed gave me a myspace address to read his blog on the whole thing. I did and he seems very philosphical about things. I'm glad he has found work so quickly but am sorry to see him go. This new Rino guy sucks on the BizBaz and Lia is just running roughshod over him. I guess the word to use is clueless. Anybody know where Bob and Gina Soos went? The new owners should be embarrassed! There amateurs.
 
I noticed on the All Access web site, Ryno is advertising an opening for Conch/Production (ad was posted Tuesday 05/27). His ad is in the Career Tools section...under Job market in Openings (link to all access is below...can't link directly to ad...you have to be registered to view).
