In listening to Conch Country today, it's clear that Robin was not on doing her regular shift. Has she exited as well?
Steve Miller was filling in, but how long will that last?

The downfall continues
 
I hear Robin left on her own. You have got to give her credit, if true. She saw what was coming. I hear even the new hires are freaking out about how things work at Vox in the Florida Keys.

I saw the ad for a job there from the new PD. How on earth are they going to attract anyone to come work for them? Especially as hurricane season begins?

Only a rookie would do it. Then, he or she would have to leave town because of the cost of living. No one in managemet has thought about this?

What if a potentail new hire reads this blog?

Who is reading this? WHO are you people?

Certainly not Vox management! Corporate would have taken a closer look at local issues before it got to this.

If you are considering working for this company in the Keys, you might want to think twice?

Meanwhile, look for Robin and Ed to reappear in a major market in the mid atlantic states. Just a prediction on my part. They are not good enough to work for WWUS but already have employment lined up in the big leagues?

Let's do a "body count." Andrew J, Race and Vanessa, Kim Casey, Ed Rodriguez, Robin... and now Lia? She was not on BizBaz late last week so I called the station. I think it was Rhino who answered the phone. He kept saying that she "wasn't on vacation" when she was off the BizBaz. On the phone he said that she had been suspended and that they were deciding whether to let her keep her job. I could not beleive that he was telling me that. Hell, he did not even ask my name! I hope that Robin left on her own. She seemed like a very nice girl. I hear that all of the stupid decisions are being made by the owner in Key West. He must be an idiot. Is he the one that's always getting into fights at Dante's? The big fat guy? He sure acts like a jerk out in public! It's one thing to get drunk and act like a fool. It's another thing to mouth off atpeople you don't know and grab women you dont know.
 
Whoops! It looks like I missed 2 more for the bodycount. Mia Merryweather and John Nazzaro have also been removed from the website. Sad.
 
I CAN confirm that Robin did leave on her own. I also heard the same thing about the owner in Key West regarding the comments on public over drinking and women.

On the street, word is he has been banned from several bars in town. I never met him so I can't say for sure but I do know he is running a very odd operation. There does not seem to be much support for this guy either in the Big Pine office or with the community.

LOL on the call to the station and the PD (?) telling you about Lia. I know that Cheap Channel fired her when she worked for them in KW, so we will see what happens. I think she said something "on air" about the Vox operation in the Keys. Not sure. Just something I heard.
 
I saw Lia in Marathon yesterday and she said that she had been suspended last week but "allowed" to come back this week. Apparently she stood up to Rodriguez's replacement and told him he didnt know what he was doing. She said she called him a jackass too. She confirmed that Robin left Conch Country and her other job at US-1 making commercials and stuff because the boss had treated her and Ed so crappy. It sounds like more people may leave there. Its a shame because when the other owners had the station (Crane? Crain?) everything was so stable. We've stopped advertising until they can get there act together. I get more reaction from the News-Barometer and the folks there are so nice to deal with.
 
Did anyone listen to BizBaz this morning?? Would anyon like to place bets on when the ratings for Vox will start to drop?

And who is handling their websites - they look a mess!
 
And according to the natural order of things - Vox is destined for a further downfall.

They are underestimating the changes they have made and the changes they have provoked within the staff. It is almost as if they didn't properly think through their choices up the chain of management?
It couldn't be more obvious that things aren't jiving as well on US1 Radio's specialty shows (i.e. BizBaz,etc.)

The new additions to the staff have failed to impress and with such rampant alterations in the building - how could all us avid listener ever get to know them like we once did? Even going back to Race and Vanessa, at least they were there for more than six months.
Lia's suspension was a short one, will she stay now?
 
Did anybody see that ad in the paper to work at US-1? It clearly said that experience wasn't necessary so I called up there to see what they'd say. Who is Mark? He said experience was necessary and when I read the ad to him, he got all mad and said he didn't give a damn what the ad said. Is he the same guy as Ryno? He was an rude SOB! And, I think he was hanging out at Lost Cargo the other day. He was very fat and kept blocking people from the crates and telling everybody who he was and that he was on the radio in a real loud voice. I thought Lisa was going to kick him out except he had a little bag of something. What a jerk!
 
BPK...a suggestion. So, there is accountability for the rude behavior you have encountered and the ignoring of an ad being ran in the newspaper for employment...I suggest bypassing the folks in KW and going above them to corporate. Corporate needs to know this conduct is happening. Below is the VOX corporate website and the contact page. The chance they have the time or know of these postings is next to nil in my opinion. On the contact page you will see Ken Barlow...the COO/Partner...I know he has taken an active interest...he ran the ads to find Ed's replacement. Either he or CEO/Partner Bruce Danziger would be a good place to start in my opinion. I hope this helps.

The CC Market Manager gave his notice today in the Florida Keys. Things will move quickly from here. Good thing VOX has the right people in place for what is to come. He-he.
 
:eek: Here's a big story for you. I just got back from visiting my son who is stationed in Germany and guess who was on the radio. We heard Ed Rodriguez every evening on the Voice of America! They have a kind of top 40 and rap station. Same Ed though! That was wild. My kids couldn't believe I wanted to listen to that music every night but I told them it was a dj I knew from the Keys.
 
You are right BPK! Ed and I exchanged email and he spoke about doing the VOA gig. He's up for something big...I have a strong feeling his myspace page will be a good place to check for updates (and what it is) ;)
 
Well, here we go again! Apparently Jennifer St. James has been dumped by US-1 and someone told me that they have taken Chuck Thomas name off the website too. That other guy that they put on Conch Country only lasted a few weeks. Didn't even learn his name! That station seems to go thru people like Leah goes thru men. It sure wasn't this way when Bob and Gina Soos were there!! Wonder what the owners think about all this?
