Major props to WGEN, channel 8, and WDLP, 22, the TV stations actually licensed to Key West (that think they're Miami TV stations).

In the thick of Wilma's approach, all stations licensed to Miami have teams on Duval Street, broadcasting live, and what do the actual Margaritaville sticks have??

"infomerciales"...Infomercials. En Espanol....

Last time during Rita, WGEN had "Lucky The Clown"...Beautiful.....

So much for serving the COL..What a joke.

PS: The debate on the mayoral race in Hialeah on WGEN, I'm sure was fascinating to the gang up and down the Lower Keys.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by bossmsx on 10/23/05 06:40 PM.</FONT></P>
 
Curious as to how a station with coverage like this can be considered Miami? Do cable operators even have to carry it?

That was a HUGE deal years ago when I lived in Marathon (50 miles north of Key West) and later in Miami. The Key West stations were suing after the FCC ruled against them. The Key West stations were going for must carry, all the way up by Fort Lauderdale.

In many ways Key West is more akin to Fort Meyers and Naples (I lived there too) than Miami.<P ID="signature">______________
