KEZ Christmas countdown

This was posted on KEZ Facebook page: Hi! Kevin Gossett, KEZ Program Director here...Hope you've enjoyed our little taste of eggnog and Christmas Music...We've pulled the Christmas records out, dusted them off, making sure they didn't get too warped in storage though the hot summer we had :) We're leaving the North Pole for a while at 9am, but will put some more Christmas Cheer on the air tomorrow morning at 8am! I have not heard any Christmas/Holiday music on KEZ so I really don't know when.

I hear KAZG is getting Christmassy. After all, Christmas oldies are the greatest, most fun Christmas songs of all. Dang, after 5+ years of the Same Old Song, do they like have a consultant or somethin'?! 8)

They got a committee of geniuses all hanging out on R-I. If you gotta play Xmas music on Lumberyard 14~Forty, then make it all distorted and over modulated songs produced by Phil "Wall of Prison Sound" Spector!

So True, but isn't that how all the songs on that station end up sounding anyway being on AM?

Actually Lumberyard 14~Forty sounds pretty good for an Ancient Modulation station. They don't over modulate and the only distortion Nurse Jeff and I hear is on some of the songs that were recorded back in the day producers produced for the awesome frequency response inherent to AM ::) While the goldminers don't know squat about legal IDs at sign on and sign off, they got that music thing down pretty good. A tip of the fez to their C.E.

Ditto on the good sound blasting from the ol' Lumberyard. The best comparison I've been able to do is matching songs between KAZG and 550 1230 KOY. There have been a few times, especially during KOY's Saturday Afternoon Sockhop, where KAZG and KOY will be playing the same exact song at the same time. For whatever reason, the music just sounds better on 1440 in comparison to KOY. It's clearer and richer. I believe it's the whole HD radio thing Clear Channel has going on KOY that distorts the sound and makes the music sound worse than our beloved Lumberyard. Yet another reason why HD radio just doesn't work on AM. :mad:
