KEZ-mas

They always start the Holly Jolly Xmas music on a Thursday. And each year, the kick off date gets earlier in November.

So why not give listeners who've been bombarded by political ads a break? Haul out the holly on Wed (11/06), the day after the election... and at least three or four days before we know who won.

Holding over the spooky Halloween tunes may have been a better interlude...

Turns out the timing was perfect as the Election has been decided (won't mention result here to avoid bringing up politics on a non-political thread) & we can focus on the holiday season.

KFLR-FM began doing XMAS music right around Thanksgiving. My guess is that the following Phoenix outlets will be going all Christmas sometime on Christmas Eve and ending it sometime on Christmas Day:

KOOL-FM (one of two by Audacy)
KMLE (Audacy's second, though it will focus on the Christmas country songs)
KFYI-AM (They're probably going to be using a pretaped satellite network service)
KTAR-FM (same as KFYI, though with more pretaped local programming)
KXEG--I'm guessing that the satellite service this station relys on will be featuring all Christmas music probably starting at 10:00am Phoenix time [12am EST] on Christmas Eve. This will be the only new station to the Phoenix Christmas list this year.

KBAQ will probably do some pretaped classical Christmas concerts; however, since KJZZ has gone all NPR news and talk, I doubt you will hear any Christmas jazz specials on its main channel.

As for me, I'm a bah humbug kind of person--I'll probably be listening to my favorite non-seasonal songs on a computer or on one of the two oldies stations (KAZG and KOAI) that are *not* likely to go all Christmas this year.

Merry Xmas--excuse me, bah! humbug to all this year.

Yup, KBAQ's already on the Christmas stuff. (BTW, nice to see that I can tune into this station via the TV thanks to it being simulcasted on the 8.5 subchannel on KAET (Arizona PBS), which is good, especially for those not in the immediate Phoenix area wanting to check it out in say Northern AZ or Yuma). Holidays on KBACH
