Paging David Eduardo: does P2 include any period of time after
the KOOL bloodletting on February 7?

I guess they gave the night jock Saturdays off. ;)

The trend was from the 7th to the 5th of March.

The extrapolated month of Feb in 12+ was a 4.1, the best of the last three months, but it was off at night... probably a wobble. Mornings were a nice 4.0, a decent showing compared to recent months. In 25-54, it did no worse than the several months before... at 17th. After being in the top 5 through November, it dropped severely in December and January, and did not recover in February.

Something happened in November and December, and the station is way off in sales demos since then.

I don't recall much from November/December, other than KOOL-FM's
usual overplaying of a certain "Van Morrisong." ;D

What happened Thanksgiving weekend? My memory is vague. Did they
air the 94th play of The History Of Rock And Roll? That's getting a bit
thin as I think it ran on almost every major holiday weekend last year.

I do recall KOOL went jockless between Christmas and New Year's, however
that was during the unrated time between the fall and winter survey periods.
Did it tick off too many listeners and they never came back in January?

Anyone? Bueller?

Brown Eyed Girl was accidently placed into lunar rotation causing thousands of KOOL listeners to turn off the radio and watch the PBS pledge drive on Channel 8 ;))

KOOL's had a heck of a run with 60s & 70s Oldies, but perhaps the infusion of more current material caused consternation among core listeners. At times Nurse Jeff and I wondered if we were listening to an Oldies or Classic Rock station. Or maybe they migrated over to the all Ho-Ho-Ho format on KEZ that debuted mid November and stayed because everything is Beth & Bill approved?!

No, you might be wrong this time. I'm thinking that the disgruntled KOOL listeners went to KDKB's "Rock from AC/DC to ZZ Top" format...or is it "Rock from AC/DC AND ZZ Top" format.

Yep, the February extraps show them third after khot and KNIX in 12+ and tied for fourth in 25-54 with KMLE and after KHOT, KPKX and KDKB.

I was one of those "core listeners" who was both surprised and delighted with the change from 60's oldies to include some 70's Rock. Seeing as KOOL never played anything from the 50's era anyway their claimed title of Oldies had a hollow ring. If I had to give up something to get the 70's I'm real happy it was Motown.
