"KF99 KQ105" Union City/Paris, TN

96.5 out of Cape Girardeau also has it and is received well in the northwest part of Obion Co but the further east and south you go ESPN radio out of Parker’s crossroads takes over the frequency.
The writer of this above comment also made a case for having Ace & T.J. on 105.7 (The Quake) out of Union City. Since this is a U.C. station, there is no issue of overlap, as Hailey alluded to (above). Since Hailey was instrumental in bringing Ace & T.J. to northwest TN, and since he now works for the Thunderbolt family of stations, it only seems natural that he would want to bring them to 105.7, as well.

That said, WCMT-FM needs to drop its simulcast of "Good Times in the Morning." That made sense when it was just them and WCMT-AM carrying it, but now WCMT-AM has FIVE (count 'em, FIVE!) FM translators, which makes the coverage of "Good Times..." redundant when carried over WCMT-FM (Mix 101.3). Now, it could be argued that WCMT-FM has a greater coverage area than all of those translators combined, but it could also be argued that the programming on "Good Times..." is not really relevant to listeners in the fringes of WCMT-FM's coverage area. But I am fairly certain that Tinkle would never agree to new programming over WCMT-FM in the morning, and then there is that issue of Weakley County overlap with the Paris station when it comes to Ace & T.J. coverage. So it only makes sense to add Ace & T.J. to The Quake, as that above commenter suggested.

I've probably left something out, but here's another update to Forever's Union City and Paris/McKenzie portfolio:

Union City:
WWGY 94.3 & WRQR 99.3 ... Froggy 94.3 & 99.3
WENK 95.5 FM & 1240 AM ... The Greatest Hits of All Time

Paris/McKenzie:
WLZK 94.1 ... The Lake
WRQR-FM 105.5 ... Rocky 105.5
WHNY 1000 AM WHNY-FM 104.7 & 97.5 ... Big Henry
WHDM 1140 AM & 98.9 FM ... Good Times, Great Oldies
WTPR AM 710 & 101.7 FM ... The Greatest Hits of All Time

QUOTE=AMFMKYTN;6301702]FROGGY is now on 94.3 and 99.3, as WZGY 94.3 in Dyer dropped its simulcast of Classic Country "Willie 94".

Forever purchased Benton-Weatherford Broadcasting and co-owned WHDM Broadcasting’s stations in the Paris area last year.

So, it looks a little like this:

Union City/Dyersburg TN: WENK | WWGY | WZGY

Paris/McKenzie TN: WHNY-AM/FM | WTPR | WHDM | WLZK | WRQR

None of this includes the Jackson stations.[/QUOTE]

Still noticing that I can only listen to the Union City-area stations online.

And this was probably a typo (unless it has recently changed) but WHDM's AM frequency is 1440. At least it was back when I worked there. This fall will make 30 years since I worked there! And from what I can tell by looking at Google street vision, the old cinder block building in downtown McKenzie is still there. But it probably hasn't been used as their studio in many years. Last passed through there in 2000. Even though it was mid-afternoon on a weekday, the building was locked, and no one was there. Times change!

I'll admit I haven't listened since the changes, but is 94.3 being marketed as a station for Union City, Dyersburg, or both?

It's being branded as "Northwest Tennessee's Froggy" on air.
Sometimes, they'll throw in "99-3 Union City 94-3 Dyersburg".
Top of hour ID is "WWGY Fulton WZGY Dyer".

KF-99 was a Union City station.
WFUL-FM before it had been a Fulton station.

So when Terry Hailey bought it from Kenneth Z. Turner (then-owner of WFUL), it essentially became a Union City "move-in."

Meanwhile, "Dyer County Country" was apparently always considered a Dyersburg station.

So nothing has really changed with these stations, except for their formats.

Couldn't help but notice that I heard Russell Dickerson (Union City native) on Froggy last week. But that could just be a coincidence.

I can listen to WENK online, but not WTPR. I am noticing that on WENK, there are no mentions of WTPR anymore. Is WTPR no longer simulcasting with WENK?

Would also like to listen to Rocky 105.5, but haven't been able to find it yet.

Find one of their "Rocky" stations in NW Pa... same thing

I have noticed that, while WENK apparently no longer simulcasts WTPR, they still promote programming (like mainly sports broadcasts) that are heard over both WENK and WTPR. In addition to that, they still carry news from what would be considered WTPR's coverage area. But I am also noticing that the news coverage is still more regional than local. That might not change for the foreseeable future.

"The Ace & TJ Show" can now be heard weekday mornings on WLZK 94.1 "The Lake" in Paris. As mentioned before, WLZK was acquired by Forever just over a year ago.

Yeah, I made reference to that back on page 2 of this thread a month or so ago. I follow Hailey on Facebook, so I was already aware of that. My references were to whether another station in Union City will carry them, which apparently no one will.

Union City Golden Tornado football action is coming to 99.3 WWGY this fall. In addition, the station will also broadcast a coach’s show. Following football, WWGY will air both girls and boys Union City basketball games.
