KFBK Afternoons

Heard that RE Graswich is now doing Afternoons on KFBK...he was/is decent writer, but that doesn't always translate on the radio...I cannot listen, so how does he sound?

I wonder if he's as loud as those Swanberg knockoff shirts he likes to wear. I saw a disturbing segment on KOVR 13 featuring RE Graswich. His report was on people in a Downtown office watching couples have sex at a nearby high-rise hotel. Hard News!

Thanks for the reply Chase...

What is the latest with Graswich and Kitty O'Neal?

Do they sound good together? Is he gonna work in the position?

Some folk I know in the area say it has been a struggle for him and tough to listen to.

I guess when you are KFBK and #1 in many demos, you can take a risk.

I've been listening quite often and though he's not terribly compelling, he's not impossible to listen to either. In the beginning there were definitely some noticeable awkward moments but that happens with most any show when its parts or the whole is new. Quite truthfully, I think his now milder personality blends in fine with the show. He's not struggling to stand out. He has some good comments to add here and there, but for the most part he seems to stick to the story. Kitty is a pro as always. Neither one of them get in the way of the main goal... reporting the news. I find it very listenable.

By the way, anyone hear Tom Sullivan make cracks about CC yesterday? I thought it was hysterical. He was talking about the motorcyclist whose employer rented a search helicopter to find the missing man. He commented that "Cheap Channel" would never do that. I applaud his honesty. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite him in the rear.

Tom doesn't have to worry about the wrath of "Cheap Channel." If they touch him, their station goes down the toilet.

Thanks RV for the perspective...a buddy of mine pretty much echoed what you said.

Having said that, would Graswich be better off being in an open talk enviroment vs. 80/20 news/talk where he is just delivering the news?

My buddy also said RE seems to struggle with reading what sounds like others are writing for him.

I am sure his heritage counts for soemthing, and that is why the seem to have stuck with him or gone that direction.

Saw the #'s for KFBK 12+, very good. And their 25-54 is doing very well up to #2 in the market.
Read that some attribute the rise to RE coming on board, but since he came in the last month of the book, it was still mostly Jay. The Summer book will be a greater indicator if the RE move is a smart one. But for now things seem good for the station.

Surprised at the drop 12+ of KSTE, didn't hear how they did 25-54...but off almost a share overall is a bit of a ding.

Perhaps KSTE is feeling the effects of not having daily TV exposure on My58. They are releasing a new line of pastas called Armstrong & SpaGetty. Good luck in the pasta business boys!

I gave RE Graswich a listen today while driving around town. I was surprised at the poor quality of his voice. Personally, I like a male voice to have some testosterone behind it.
