KFBK Commercial Overlapping?

I listen to KFBK while working my days away for the State of Confusion (CA). Have been noticing that during commercial breaks, news breaks, and even bumpers into or out of syndicated programming that commercials/bumper music is being played over other/main programming. Has KFBK become amateur hour or is CC too cheap to properly program the computer that runs the automation of the station so this doesn't happen? Sounds like kids goofing off on a 50,000 watt toy to me.

Ahhh yes, you're a witness of KFBK going automated. I believe they're without an IT guy with a limited engineering staff (from what I've heard). It truly sounds like a train-wreck at times.

A friend of mine was CE at the cluster a few years back. He finally quite when they had him fire most of his staff. He was being asked to run the whole thing by himself.

I bet I know your friend. That place has a way of chewing up people. :)

Hopefully your friend landed on his feet.

I was up on Easter Sunday early at my usual 6AM, fumbling around wondering what to do, what to hear, AM/FM whatever. I definitely got a chuckle out of prolonged paid infomercials talking over each other. (Almost as bad as 2 cell phone talkers yakking loud of conversations no one else cares disturbing an otherwise delightful dining establishment.)

KSTE had this cross pollination of 2 simultaneous simulcasts of Purity Products from 6:00AM till at least 6:15. I kept it on just to see how long it would last, when Hyaluronic Acid trips on Vitamin D. (Or was that Resveratrol, the magic health ingredient behind red wine?) Anywho, combining all those would make for quite a supplement; I may even pay the $4.95 Shipping and Handling just to remember this.

KFBK was no better. Sometimes it seems when they don't know what to play, they reach for Rush. I've heard him at all odd hours, such as 9PM on a Sunday or Saturday at KFBK. They played Rush over someone else's bit same hour as he tried to deliver his "Week in Review" (which is actually a replay of that week's earlier highlights.)

Easter Eggs, perhaps?

It seems the afternoon news is turning more to an "Entertainment Tonight" production...lots of joking around, miscellaneous banter between Kitty and sports/weather/traffic talent and various music beds during different segments (under the news delivery). It may be by design to "better fit" the FM side, but IMO, it degrades the quality and reputation of the station. I'm not saying you have to be serious and monotone to maintain credibility, but the presentation is MUCH different than it was 10 or 20 years ago.

Maybe just a sign of the times...but I agree with others the station is a shell of its former self.
