KFBK Morning News opening

Heard from my contact that Kelly Brothers is done at the end of December...sick of getting up early I was told.

Who are the candidates to replace him?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Mornings will be voice-tracked from Modesto with Amy doing "live and local" cut-ins.

just kidding....

The way Clear Channel slashes budgets, it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe they will have RE Graswich do both AM & PM drive!

But seriously, is there any word on who will replace Brothers?

I pick Mr Hankie or Barney the purple dinosaur. Both would work for peanuts ( ;), and they both have tv recognition like the usual suspects that sail through that revolving door on Ethan. Barney may be a tough sell though because people may have a hard time distinguishing between him and the sports guy.

Clinger has a point.

Seems nowadays, radio gravitates towards TV folk. But it is such a different skill set.

Seems like everyone thinks they can "do radio"...until they realize they have to have actual content and not much if any scripting, then it becomes much harder then they imagine.

You'd think PD's and GM's would get that. But since now most PD's (and even more rare GM's) have never been on air, they have no concept of that.

I am assuming KFBK is more formatted/structured in the way of the news writing/content (the anchors probably write most of their own stuff, right?) so there is less improvisation and can better suit those not accustomed to flowing discussion and impromptu conversation.

Was listening to KFBK and heard Paul Robbins filling in...sounded pretty good and he has a lot of market heritage...wondering if he is auditioning or just happens to be filling for the morning...

Lol!!! Dana, you still crack me up after all these years!

Dare I even ask what (if any) word/latest is on KFBK and their search for Kelly Brother's replacement?

Dana, are you a candidate, do you even care? I remember you from Y92...

Is CC looking to "blow up" Y92?

I could see Paul Robbins jumping ship then...the last time I heard the station (about 5 months ago) it sounded like they were trying to copy Jack but with less rock bent/more AC for the females...either way ti sounded schitzo musically, and the jock sounded disinterested (some guy).

Here it is...Mid to Late December...

Any word who is replacing Kelly Brothers on KFBK?

He is done as of January, correct?

Doesn't leave much time left to get things in place.

Well I am guessing Paul Robbins is now a "mortal" lock for KFBK...

Though a Sac contact I have says there is another person they are considering...some person in house who fills in quite a bit...

He couldn't remember the name, but said there were multiple people on this week, mainly though becuase of the Holiday.

Guess we will know after Jan 1.

My friend heard the Jay Alan thing as well...however, CC doesn't take kindly to those who break contracts (yea I know, very hypocritical on their part)...which from what I understand he did when taking a job with the State.

Plus, I don't think Jay would mix well in AM Drive.

There is some guy in house that does a lot of fill in, that my friend heard from his source that the staff really like. He is not a local, but has been there for awhile. But it seems CC wants a heritage name to the market. Speaking of which, Paul Robbins may not be that person, or so says some sources thru the grapevine.
