KFBK Newsradio

What's up with the lousy re-branding and when did it happen? Is this just a way to make it easier for the hosts to refer to the station(s)? That's the only reason I could possible think of as to why they did this.

I noticed it a few days ago. Some remote hosts are still saying AM1530 and FM96.5. I guess they didn't get the word. ;)

IMO, they are just trying to take attention away from the simulcast. Why newsradio? Why not just "news/talk"? Orrrr why not just call letters? 8)

As a frequent Western Washington, night-time listener of KFBK-AM, I just hope they don't mess up the AM side and turn it into another KGO, where everything that makes the station good gets sort of removed and/or replaced.

If they mess with the FM side, they mess with the AM side. :)

While i like them dropping the two frequencies, I think "newsradio" sounds dated and old.

One day this week, many times throughout the day, ads were playing over live programming. I LMAO!

Didn't I see a KFBK reporter on a Sac news station? I think his name is Rob McAllister. He worked at local KNCO, then KFBK, and now doing TV sports. I can't remember the station. Was it KXTV?

I heard a very hard bottom of the hour transition from Tom Sullivan to a local news break. I assume they're working towards full automation. At least that's what it sounds like lately. Sad, just sad but I know, people = $$$

I've heard they're automated on both KFBK and KSTE when not live. ::)

KSTE has been that way since early 2000 at least.

KFBK only started doing that when they moved from Ethan Way and it shows.

KFBK needs to get there act together... What's the new slogan??? Newsradio KFBK? I have heard several liners in and out of syndicated programming still using Newstalk 92.5 and 1530. The RDS still says Newstalk 92.5 and 1530 KFBK. So which is it Clear Channel? Newradio or Newstalk? LOL...bunch of ding dongs running the show.

I'm not sure they know? Who's running the show at BK since Eisenson departed?

Ken Charles, transplanted from the Miami cluster. It's unlikely he'll make the necessary changes to fix this mess. KFBK sounds old and tired, and is living on the fumes of its legacy, and so they still bill well, but it's hardly a competitive news operation anymore. The public radio station in town has a far better team of reporters.

FWIW, today there's been no national Fox News at the top of the hour. I noticed this at 9AM when it seems there was some stumbling with the morning hosts Amy & Ed saying it was 9 o'clock and they did more news. (They usually say 9:03, 10:03, etc.)

Don't know if this means anything, just an observation. Could it be they got a sudden burst of ads and needed more air time? (I haven't heard the fillers lately from CC Sales Managers persuading business owners to call them.)

So I worked for BK in early 2000 and the place was a hot bed for reporters to get their start in radio. So much good talent out of that place. While the on air product sounds a little tired, I believe it still holds the same "training ground" reputation.
