KFBK programming note

Armstrong & Getty "Best Of" to air on KFBK 7-10 weeknights in place of live programming cut in CC inaugural day massacre. Totally automated, as in, not only no live host, but no board op, no phone screener. Unknown whether it will command higher rates considering the daypart (currently $50 a spot), but it eliminates three salaries, four if the local news anchor at top and bottom is eliminated, and saves money on avails given up with a syndicated product. Makes bottom line sense to corporate, which of course doesn't care what old school broadcasters think. Is it a branding problem to air one station's product oin another? I don't see that, but others might.

Management there told one dismissed salesperson last week, "You're not part of the new regime."

Someone posted on another board that the private equity firms holding CCs debt have big bills coming due starting in May, at which time, another round of cuts is likely. Anyone else know the score on that? What other cuts at CC Sac cluster which now has three automated FMs (counting Jack and upcoming new signal), one near total automated AM and one AM and FM with more than one daypart staffed? Many CC AMs only have a morning news block or single local host and syndicate the rest of the day.

Will Bain and Thomas have to hold a fire sale in smaller markets to get out form increasing debt load?
