KFEYEEEE MOVING TO FM

The secret is out inside the CC compound. KFYI will soon be on 95.5 FM. They aren't saying the day of the move but its happening in the next few weeks.

The Coyote must be turning over in its grave.

Just what we need.....the waste of a great FM signal on a more hot air tawker.

Not to mention Y95, Quiet 95, KRFM, et al.

If it happens, what becomes of 5~Fifty? hmmmm....Fifty Five Feenix, Kay Oh Why :D

In the words of Wikipedia, [citation needed]. This just sounds like the rumors of CBS giving KMLE a "mercy killing" to make room for their sports network.

It makes sense with the election a little over a month away. Just not sure why they waited this long.

I'll believe it when I hear Limbaugh on 95.5, and not one second before. A guy with a one post on a message board is not my idea of a credible source. He may be right, but further fact-checking is needed.

Haven't you read the fine print at the bottom of each page?

In fact many of the views expressed here are just plain wrong. But they are opinions and this site allows us all to discuss those opinions.

How else could Nurse Jeff and I keep posting our nonsense brilliance for 12 years now?

Now I have two posts on here. ;) You'll be a believer soon.

If Clear Channel wants to save the KFWhyEye brand, then it has to move to FM...and not on a rimshot. Ancient Modulation has sunk so far in the tar pit that major operators are now parting with them. Greater Media is selling their 9~Fifty in Philadelphia to a Bible thumper and that frequency provides great market coverage day and night.

Is this move for real or more idle speculation? If it's true, no one should be surprised. Phoenix Metro has long since outrgrown it's AM signals. KFYI can't survive long-term on 550 AM with 5 kW day and 1 kW night. A move to 95.5 FM is not only inevitable but necessary. :)

If KFYI moves to FM, then KTAR, with its increasingly-embarrassing "no-caller" policy and no "breaking news" after 7pm or weekends, is officially toast. Feel free to quote this message when it inevitably happens.

Unlike Bonneville, which wants 92.3 to be different formats to different people depending upon when they tune in (great way to build a brand), Clear Channel knows how to run a professional and profitable "talk radio" format that really is consistently "talk radio" 24/7, even after 7pm and even on the weekends. Bonneville can't say that about 92.3.

I've got no doubt whatsoever about vanblazin's comment. None whatsoever.

Not so fast on the toaster talk prediction, Indie.

KTweetAR has a monumental head start on programming to listeners under the age of 55, and doesn't rely upon syndicated talkers who attract older demos (Limbaugh was fresh in the 1990s plus The Nearly Bald One has been there since the 1980s ...so better check your calendar). KFWhyEye sounds like it belongs on Ancient Modulation and that just won't play on FM. KTweetAR learned that lesson during their first year on FM with the likes of Pat McBland and the train wreck that was Ted & Heidi in PMD.

It's a lot more than just not taking phone calls that sets these two apart today. That loaf of bread on Van Buren needs a new recipe before heading for the toaster!

So, Barely Young will be obnoxious and addled in stereo, Broomhead will be dual speaker redneck trash and Glen Beck will be in surround-stupid.

I wouldn't say that Ted & Heidi was a train wreck. They basically did the same thing that Ned & Connie are currently doing AM Drive Time. T&H didn't have enough time together to develop chemistry. N&C sound comfortable together.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the "no-caller" policy is not a net negative.

Have you ever tried to call in to a talk radio program?

If you're lucky, you'll get something other than a busy signal. If you're interesting enough to the phone screening person, you might get put on hold. If you get that far, it is only 20 or minutes until you might get to talk on the radio for 30 seconds.

In an era were Facebook and Twitter offer instantaneous interaction, this is as out of style as an I Phone 4.

Does TNBO Yound know how to talk in stereo?

Anyone recall if the LA Airforce library was recorded in stereo? Imagine how good that fake studio audience will sound in FM Stereo on 95~Five? (clap-clap-clap-clap)

Anyone pay attention to who was guest host on 550 yesterday afternoon? Casey Bartholomew. A guy who has done FM talk for a load of years. ;)
