KFI AM 640 - MIA AGAIN

I noticed yesterday afternoon that KFI was was intermittently coming in and out and now they are almost completely gone again.

I guess that is why Al Gore invented the Internets.

What is your general area in Sandy Eggo? Day light, dawn or dusk? Car, or home?

Oh good, here we go with Chris playing engineer again.

Probably an improvement over engineers playing program director.

Actually John and Ken made a big mention on their show that the station was experiencing severe transmitter troubles.

It was during the entire day....everything is back to normal as of Friday afternoon....and I can received KFI throughout my house again....and in my car.

As you claim to do constantly Gleason.

Fortunately, I don't have to "claim" anything; the facts are rather public.

The objective of most message boards is to allow a free exchange of ideas, including debates on a variety of subjects.

The fact that I don't agree with you on your interpretation of how entities in a sovereign foreign nation should operate does not make you an idiot; it just makes you the holder of a viewpoint I don't buy into. What I find silly you... or another reader... may find to be the essence of truth. And that is the essence of debate, too.

But casting doubt on a person's career is a bit beyond debate. From all accounts, you are among the best engineers to have worked in recent decades in San Diego and I would never, mistakenly, try to sully that achievement. Please consider treating others equally.

Your implication is that I've tried to play program director. Nothing could be further from the truth. My comment stands.

I love CHRISTmas, it brings out the fun in everyone. Cheers everyone!

Well as a matter of history most of the great engineers of radio were at one time on the air or were program directors! They just got tired of the layoffs and got into the "more stable" position in radio. And it does give a better perspective, as most engineers that havent worked on the programming end build studios that are barely usable because they dont understand on and off air prodution!

I remember turning the radio on only to hear low static. I then turned my iPhone to KFI on I Heart radio and heard them talk about how they weren't on the air.

I actually prefer the stream, it's KFI-FM now. ;)

Well I knew you were on the air John, but I was actually reffering to a few other engineers that we both know very well.

This seems odd, KNX 1070 is much stronger in San Diego than KFI 640. KFI 640 is closer to San Diego than KNX 1070, but KFI sound weak in San Diego than KNX. Also, since KFI is on 640 am, it should be stronger than KNX 1070.

Possibly the difference you not is due to recent KFI transmitter problems.

If KNx is always stronger, it may be due to the KNX site being almost on the ocean, while KFI is considerably inland.
