KFI"S Transmitter problems?

Darned liberal transmitters!!!!

:D

It's a Canadian transmitter... you know, they have socialized medicine and stuff there... eh?

I am guessing but they seemed to have been doing some kind of tuning exercises during Handel a couple of weeks back, then the IBOC disappeared. Now it is back so I imagine that they were doing some retuning of the tower. Usually they leave Rush untouched even for breaking news and dump Dr. Laura but since I don't listen during the day I don't know how long they were off. Coincidently KSPN also turned I-HASH back on. Since I’m just down the street from the transmitter it obliterates a sizable chunk of spectrum. :'(

Single tower antenna systems, once measured, go years and years without any need for significant adjustment. And if there is a need, the work is done at 2 AM on a Sunday morning, not when spots are worth $600 each.

What you heard was a problem in the new transmitter manifesting itself. The result was placing the auxiliary rig on the air.

Occasionally things happen that prevent even the backup from working, which is why every station has a little unavoidable downtime no matter how skillfully engineered it is.
