When was the last time KFI had any regular sports programming? Play-by-play or sports talk.

The current round-the-clock McCourt coverage notwithstanding.

KFI had sports programming? I just remember AC giving way to talk.

In the early days of KFI's current talk format there was an early evening sports news/talk hour hosted by Chris Roberts that included Joe McDonnell. The nail in the coffin for sports on KFI was losing the Raiders. KFI also made a few pitches to the Dodgers to try and woo them back to 640, but the Dodgers never bit. This was of course pre Clea Channel. As a CC station they would tend to stay away from sports programming because of co-owned KLAC.

Lakers TV play by play Joel Meyers who is about to be replaced by Spero Dedes used to do L.A. Raiders game on KFI in the 90's and Joe McDonnell briefly hosted a show on Sunday night in the early 90's before jumping to KMPC. KFI won't ever have sports agaon because of sister station KLAC.

This may sound dumb but how about moving the Kings to the stronger 640 signal instead of 1150?

The problem is while hockey surely has its fans in L.A., it's not very popular.

In fact the Anaheim Ducks in the last decade have won the Stanley Cup, but do you recall much coverage on that?

KFI has some of the highest-rated programming in the entire country. I don't think they're looking to add the Kings and their dozens of radio fans to the mix. That's the kind of program you shove onto KLAC or KTLK, where you can measure the ratings with a microscope. Not trying to diss hockey as a sport, I know it can be exciting to go and watch a game. But the truth is there aren't a significant number of fans who care about listening to it on radio.

KFI was the Dodgers flagship station from the 1960 season - and for the entire decade of the 60s - perhaps longer. According to internet sources, the team moved to KABC in 1973...I don't think there were any other stations between KFI and KABC.

During the Sandy Koufax/Don Drysdale era, Dodgers games on KFI with Vin Scully and Jerry Doggett - were about the only thing on radio that would make me tune away from KRLA, KHJ, and KFWB. Well...the Dodgers, and Gary Owens on KMPC.
