KFI Voiceover Person...?

Longtime listener, first time poster here.

There's someone on KFI that, for about the last year and a half, has done countless local commercials for the station.

She puts on this cutesy voice that sounds like she's trying to speak through some sort of contorted Joker-from-Batman rictus-type grin. Seriously, you can practically hear the exaggerated smile. It was much worse at first but I think over the last year, she's toned it down a bit.

At first I thought it sounded like one of the newsreaders putting on a different voice, either to differentiate herself from her more serious work, or because the advertisers wanted someone that sounds like a contestant at a wet t-shirt contest. But now I'm not sure because I don't hear anyone else on the station that even reminds me of her anymore.

Just curious if anyone knows who it is.

Stuff like this does matter. There are plenty of terrific women in broadcasting but there's also way too much of this cutesy, giggly delivery. Broadcasters used to strive to maintain professional standards, such as, "Don't laugh at your own attempted humor." It's a turnoff. Maybe it's supposed to appeal to a younger audience but the demos on AM radio just don't support it.

Cutesy, giggly young women are a turn-off for an audience of 70-year-old men? Since when?

When you say "local commercials for the station", are you talking about station promos or product advertising? Can you give us an example of things she would say, products she advertised, etc.? I saw the words "KFI Voiceover Person" and assumed this would be about the relatively new station announcer. Boy, I can't stand him. He's no Chris Corley (sorry, old school listeners, Mark Dennis was before my time). But as to your question, I have no idea what you're talking about. I've never heard a female announcer on the station that fits your eerily vivid and creepy description.

Ha! Eerily vivid and creepy — that's me all over. Sorry. I'll reply with specific current commercials when I hear them. But what I mean is she's someone who's doing commercials that air on KFI, not station IDs or promos for the station.

There was a point, a year ago, when I thought I recognized her voice as belonging to someone on the station working on-air in a different capacity. News reader, traffic, on-air talent. But I could never figure out who. It's not Shannon Faron, at any rate.

As to the poster who asked "why does this matter?" Well, it doesn't, but this is the internet. I'm allowed to post a question or comment of no real consequence. I understand others have done this as well, on this and other sites.
 
I think you mean Sheron Bellio - KFI producer (who currently helps produce the Tim Conway Jr. show).

If you do an Internet search for this name, it will bring up some audio/Youtube clips where you can verify.
 
I don't think it's Bellio. She sounds younger than Bellio, but maybe it is her.

Whoever this mystery woman is, she does spots on KFI for "Monarch Beach Resorts [.] com," "Memorial Care" something or other ("Call 1-800-Memorial"), "...and when it breaks!" at the end of KFI station IDs, "SoCal BMW" spot (at least on KFI on I Heart feed), "Dive on into McDonald's for their Filet-O-Fish" nonsense, and, well that's just all I heard on one day, all delivered in various strengths of over-the-top saccharine.

But here's one we can all get behind: Also on KFI: The spot for "Marley Generics." Completely different woman; never heard her on any other commercial. The voice doing that one wavers very closely to a vocal caricature of a 70s porn star. There's parts of the short ad where she sounds almost legitimate; other parts where it's like listening to Carol Wayne, the Matinee Lady, on an old Carson sketch. But, again, it's an ad essentially for Viagra, so there ya go.

I don't listen to KFI, but since you mention Carol Wayne, I assume you're talking about the "little girl" voice. I'm hearing those more and more on radio and TV commercials. I'm guessing its because it's distinctive. They always get my attention...at least for a few seconds.
