KFIR 720 Sweet Home, Oregon On Day Power Overnight?

KFIR is competing against WGN Chicago here at my QTH in Laramie, WY. It wouldnt do that if it were on night power, I don't think. I've never heard KFIR until this week when it may have been at day power earlier this week as well. It's been heard by a few DX'ers in other parts of the country. FYI: KFIR is running Coast To Coast till 6am pacific then "Handel On The Law" 6 to 9am mountain, WGN is running all local programming

Their web stuff all seems to promote the fact that the are a 10 kw station...the only one around. No mention of a nighttime power. Did they give themselves a power increase?
You might want to let the owners of the other 720 stations know.

146 watts at night.

No chance for me to hear them in the Chicago area with local WGN blasting away.

You’d be amazed what LOW power can do “propagation-wise” under the right conditions. Last night, I had a two-way digital contact with a ham station in Bulgaria from my home in Lexington, KY on 1840 KHz (160 meter band). I was running just 75 watts and my antenna was a “loaded” 55’ sloper coming off my 48’ tower to a tree in my front yard! The distance of the two-way contact was about 5,500 miles!

Nice contact on 160 meters!
