KFI's improved audio

Has anyone else noticed a vast improvement lately of the audio on KFI? The frequency response is much better for a crisper cleaner sound. Kudos to the engineers responsible!! 8)

Isn't that because they are back to full power and on a new stick? I'm no AM expert, but doesn't more power usally = better sound?

No, Garrett. They've been at full power for a few months now, but the audio improvement is only apparent in the last week or so.

This just might be the new transmitter on the air.

Improved audio?

And the I-CRAP still appears to be off. Hooray!

From Phoenix I am hearing first adjacent channel hash from KNX on
1060 and 1080, but nothing from KFI on 650--just a weaker station
or two fighting it out in the ether. 630 is hash-trashed from KTAR
620 Phoenix (KT'R, or Sports Parking Lot 620 to us locals).

Stations running IBOC limit their AM to around 5 kHz. If KFI isn't going to run IBOC then maybe they removed the 5 kHz filter

and returned to the NRSC standard of 10 kHz audio.
