KFI's SOUTHLAND POWER

I'm perhaps thinking KFI radio has moved its antenna again to its new temporary location?

In the past couple of days, KFI radio is coming in real weak down here in Dago East County (parts of San Diego metro, East County).

I was thinking it might be with the humid weather and how it may be affecting the ionosphere?

Paging David Eduardo...

KFI is using one of the old KRKD towers in Montecito Heights while the main tower is reconstructed. They are running about 10 kw from a short, short stick so the coverage is mightily impaired.

Supposedly the tower sections are all up, and they are proceeding to the construction of the top hat which will imporove the electrical height somewhat. Word is that full 50 kw operation will be back by Labor Day.

Reception has been weak in North Hollywood, while they were using the auxiliary tower at La Mirada. When they are on the Montecito Heights towers they are stronger here and while I'm on the Metro Link Trains from Burbank to LA. I'm glad they will soon be back to full signal so I can get a static free Handel on The News.
