Let me get this straight: A major market FM will try to gain audience share by boasting the size of its playlist and expanding the years! That's your cue, David.

Listening to it streamed via bigfmsd.com. Label me underwhelmed. It is basically a Jack-FM redux without the snarky character and without live jocks, which the prior incarnation of Jack FM in San Diego had - when it too lived on 100.7 back in the day. I think the magic of radio is the humanity that comes from having real humans on the air conveying real local comments - something the prior format programming (100.7 San Diego) meekly attempted - albeit with an also burnt to the crisp playlist. A music jukebox like this new approach, playing burnt to the crisp non-fresh tracks cannot compete well in the era of Spotify. Thoughts?

Depends. Some people don't want to give their personal info to hear music. Some people don't want to program their own playlists. It's push vs. pull.

Has there been any news about new call letters for 760?

One of the articles about the official call letter change for 100.7 FM mentioned that the sale of 760 AM from Local Media to iHeart Media has not closed yet.
Once that closing occurs, then iHeart will have 30 days to change call letters on 760 AM.

They have not used that for several years. Remember, this is a rather low rated FM station, so it has no useful heritage.

OUCH!

"No useful heritage".

That's a stake through heart for this boy!

But, "KAM-BAM, San Diego" could hold a certain curiosity...

Now Confirmed KFMB-FM is now known as KFBG-FM.

"KFB-GFM, San Diego" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

And for the past few weeks, the KFMB-AM website has been looking pretty strange.

Hmmm They haven't converted to the iHeart web template yet. That probably won't happen until they get the new call letters and domain name.

I'm guessing the FCC is moving slower due to COVID.

The FCC has yet to act on the assignment of the KFMB-AM license yet. It was filed on 03/23/2020. Normal FCC actions take 45-60 days. The FCC is actually working quite well during this virus. The seem to be cleaning up a lot of issues.

The KFMB-AM call letter swap is into extra innings. Anybody hearing anything?

the sale was consummated on 6/12/2020.
Thus, iHeart has until 7/12/2020 to change the calls.

And they have---effective tomorrow, KFMB-AM becomes KGB-AM. While KGB-FM has been on-air continuously since 1958, the call letters KGB have not been used on AM since 1982.
