Ian Rose died December 30, 2014, four days after undergoing heart transplant surgery. He was 67. Born in New York, Rose studied theater in high school and spent a year at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After a few weeks working as an announcer at WKZO-Channel 3 (now WMMT) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Rose joined the Army and became a DJ for American Forces Radio in Frankfurt, Germany. After leaving the Army, he earned an AA degree in journalism from Pasadena City College. He worked at several San Diego radio stations but spent most of his career as a newsman and traffic reporter at KFMB. He also provided reports for Shadow Traffic and Metro Traffic until retiring in 2009.
