KFMP-LP trying to be KTXT

Wow...another channel 6 LPTV acting as a radio station. Long-term, I wonder what their plans are when the analog LPTV stations are shut-off?

Looks like we now have several across the state...

KXIT-LP 6 Amarillo
KZFW-LP 6 Dallas
KBFW-LP 6 Arlington/Ft Worth
KFMP-LP 6 Lubbock

I still can't pick it up near Tech or NW Lubbock.

Looks like it's run by a group out of Los Angeles.

Their morning show guys are also in L.A., not local.

But hey, good luck with it I say!

Yeah. I talked to someone and they said it was on for a little while but had been off for a couple days now I think.

I can definitely pick up a signal...but it is nothing but dead air.

I wish them luck too....I'm glad they are here to bring at least some alternative music here in Lubbock, but I just wish they would have at least shown a little class by getting permission to yank our logo and slogan. But I guess if they need to use the death of our station to promote, then so be it.

I hope it comes back on. It sounds like something I'd rather listen to then 94.5

LP 6 WAS owned by RAMAR but it looks like they've sold it.

They have been a repeater for the Fox Accuweather Channel until now.

So there you go!

Is KFMP (Channel 87.7) on the air? From their website, it looks like Dick & Scribba from Free FM (San Diego, Los Angeles, and even New York) are the morning show. In my opinion, any alternative in Lubbock is better than no alternative. So, I hope Channel 8-7-7 is successful.

I have not heard the morning show. I have been listening to the station on and off (it replaced JACK FM on my car radio button bar). While I like the music on the station, it is really not the same as what KTXT. Despit their logo which was a ripoff of KTXT (until they changed it over the weekend), the music sounds more like mainstream Alternative, as opposed to the College rock that that KTXT played. Also, KTXT did more than music, while KFMP seems to be all music. You can see their play list on Last FM http://www.last.fm/user/KFMP

They appear to be owned by Venture Technologies, not sure if that's the same as "Venture Communications" http://www.ventureconnected.com/ (those people who have the "VC" on the trucks they have driving around Lubbock). If it is, this would be their first time in commercial broadcasting that I am aware of. I would suspect that since these frequencies are being turned over to cell phone companies, Venture would just using the signal to make money or for some other reason, before the shut off date. But that is pure speculation on my part, and that's only if it is the same company.

I plan to run KXIT-LP as long a possible, at this point there is no shut of date in site.

I think that a more mainstream alternative music intensive station is better than college rock anyway (my opinion.)

I'm pretty sure Venture Tech is not the same as Venture Comm... Venture Tech owns television stations (including KFMP-LP) and is based out here in Los Angeles.

Cheers!

Does anyone know why the station is silent? I've been trying to catch it the past few days and give it a listen but all I hear is static.

Also, looks like they changed the logo as well.

figured it out!

i have to tune my car into 87.75. Sounds pretty good. Like how they mix some of the mainstream stuff into the playlist. I wish they could have the 35,000 watts we once had though.
