KFMY Moves Closer to Seattle

Our good friends at "The Eagle" 97.7 Mhz in Raymond have moved their transmitter site to South Mountain at 47 18 46 Latitude 123 22 15 Longitude, changed to a Class C with 60,000 watts of juice at 756 HAAT, and renamed their their city of license to Oakville, which I am told is just a one-horse town with a single stop light. With this minor change to the North, KFMY gets another 40 kilometers of service contour, which includes most of the Seattle-Tacoma urbanized area. Unfortunately, this defacto "move-in" will light a torch to the newly-granted 97.7 FM Translator on Capitol Hill that was supposed to serve more of KCFL, Fall City, or quite possibly the new Ocean Shores LPFM. KCFL owners (San-Sno) have filed a Petition to Deny this move, but we feel that San-Sno doesn't have a chance here, as a Class C trumps a translator and KCFL already serves it's city of license. So look out for The Eagle on your doorstep sometime soon to a radio near you.

Is this the former sister station to KAYO? Could they be planning a flip to country to fill their hole? Thoughts?

Tim, you are THE MAN! Yes, KFMY is sister stations to KAYO. They had to file an intensive ownership report showing that this move would not violate current ownership rules in the Sea-Tac market. Your strategy of flipping frequencies and call letters definately makes sense. So, KAYO might be heard at 97.7 Mhz as Country (watch out KMPS---Infinity!), and KFMY could be heard on 99.3 Mhz as The Eagle. One last note that makes this run full circle.......KAYO just changed call letters to KDDS on June 10, 2005. Check this out:

OK... Thought I totally missed something..

Interesting Idea for South Sound Broadcasting to return to Country and continue picking away at KMPS.
