Well the firings have begun as of 10:30 this morning. Expect a total housecleaning by close of business today.....
Maybe but 950/740 covers more of Houston day (and night) than 97.5 ever will......Regardless of who is the worst company, the worst signal goes to KFNC...and it will never compete with 740...Baker leave 950?? Only if he gets a better signal...Fo-Fo-Fo-Hye said:Something to consider though. As evil as everyone things Clear Channel is... Cumulus is worse and most people with any clout already are aware of that as well.
My point is that when Baker left 950 for 740, his show's creativity took a hit. Maybe it was the more structured form that was forced on him at KTRH, but his show is not nearly as entertaining or listenable as it once was. 950 is not a good signal, at least outside of Houston.By the way, does anyone else here see the move of Jim Pruitt to mornings on KFRC as a way to finally kill off Walton and Johnson on KIOL? I think this will hurt W&J's ratings, whatever is left of them.CW said:Maybe but 950/740 covers more of Houston day (and night) than 97.5 ever will......Regardless of who is the worst company, the worst signal goes to KFNC...and it will never compete with 740...Baker leave 950?? KPRC is 5KW omni during the day (it goes directional SW at night from its tower site)...it can be heard up and down the Gulf Coast during daylight hours; though ground conductivity is NOT as good from their NE xmtr site just off 610 vs the Dayton KTRH site, but 950 NOT heard outside Houston?? That is just NOT the case. I can hear it pass the LA state line when driving east on I10.True, KFNC is a Beaumont station...but KIOL IS licensed to LaPorte and DOES put City Grade (3.16mV or 70dbU which is good enough to pick up on table top radios) across LaPorte...but thats it (same goes for KFNC anyway)..it does NOT cover SW to the NW side where the majority of its market (english speaking males, age 25-54) lives except in the car...and then thats not that good because of desense by Sr Road....which DO cover all of Houston with a city grade because of their location. The towers to the East (Devers 1 & 2 and Winnie and soon Devers #3!) are in a bad location to cover the west end...97.1's North side tower seems to work quite well in that area. I guess because of 103.5 Austion (BOB-FM) is why Cumulus could not build north as well (well, they may not have been able to cover La Porte from there either...and getting it to cover Laporte MAY have been needed to get its upgrade to a C approved....though I doubt it personally...they could have stayed licensed to Conroe/Willis but the ID would have been Willis/Houston and that just doesnt give it that "Houston" flair like LaPorte would...well in the corporate mind anyway...personally I could care less and so would most of the listening audience)Theo_Huxtable said:950 doesn't have a good signal outside of Houston? I find that quite entertaining (unlike Chris Baker). Who would rather be on KFNC that has an awesome signal in Beaumont, or on 950 that has a great signal in the 4th largest city in America... that's a hard choice I am sure.I personally find it laughable when people refer to KFNC or KIOL as Houston stations. So much for actually serving their city of liscense. They're not Houston stations. You can call a turd a tulip, but in the end it's still a turd. Neither of these are Houston stations.

CW, I guess that I was referring to listening to KPRC at night. I cannot get KPRC at night in Beaumont, while I can get KTRH and KFNC. KPRC can cover the city of Houston at night, but I'm sure there are issues at night in certain parts of the city. That's all I was trying to say.CW said:KPRC is 5KW omni during the day (it goes directional SW at night from its tower site)...it can be heard up and down the Gulf Coast during daylight hours; though ground conductivity is NOT as good from their NE xmtr site just off 610 vs the Dayton KTRH site, but 950 NOT heard outside Houston??
