KFNC heard on the way to work

Fairly clearly--only once in a while does it overpower KWTX (usually early in the morning but never during the day). COuldn't hear too much except some talk--Since I leave for work at 430 from Northwest Austin, can I assume that most of the nighttime is spent doing talk radio there??

I heard 97.5 here about 30 miles south of Austin clear as can be last night about 11:30-12 while doing some work on the computer. I couldnt get KIOL though KOUL was overpowering them I had to ofcourse tune in to 103.7.5 on my PC radio card can fine tune stations plus signal meter all realy good to have when dx'n :).

Glad that KFNC has a signal out in the Austin area. They have been hell to try and listen to the last couple of days in Houston. The signal has been unusally weak here, but I haven't had much interference from KFTX. KIOL has had a great signal all week, no interference. Even driving around on the west side out near Hwy 6 the signal was good with just some fading. KIOL penetrates the concrete canyons while I can't get a signal out of KFNC.

The tropo enhancement started with a bang this year and now that we are into the time of year that it is very common, KFNC will probably be a difficult station to listen to, although my week of listening to KFNC to give it a proper chance is up and have switched back to Rock 103-7. Have to admit though that Jim Pruett and company from 2pm to 5pm is some of the better radio in Houston. Too bad it is so damn hard to hear, even at home with an antenna aimed for the best signal, something you can't do in a vehicle. KFNC is just about out of the question trying to listen to while driving around the city. No signal or KFTX or both KFNC and KFTX or even Waco's KWTX. Just too annoying to listen to a signal that bad. The traffic is irritating enough, I don't need a signal from a radio station that just adds to the irritation.

I really don't think there is anything to do with 97.5 but make it a Beaumont station again. It just isn't going to work as a Houston station when it isn't even listenable over 50% of the time.

I couldnt agree with you more Mike. Even with good news/talk programming, if 50% of the population cant hear it, then whats the point? I will try to listen early in the morning again, but normally I get KWTX from Waco.

.....it just makes one wish that Cumulus' only remaining possibility (KSTB 101.5) were upgradable to a full market coverage of H-town.....then it could be the shot in the arm that KFNC would welcome, if not kill for......
