kfnx is now owned by premiere radio stations? ..who's this??

did francis battaglia change the company name to trick new hosts into brokered programming on a 'premiere radio station'; implying it's affiliated with premiere radio network.?

Note the Wikipedia entry also says they run John Dayl's show. That would be a good trick. On Wikipedia, you get what you pay for.

The name changed as part of the exit from bankruptcy and sale in 2005. Check the FCC's transaction records.

And I don't think too many Phoenix realtors and health gurus are familiar with Premiere Radio Networks. But anything to take a swing at someone, I guess.

I heard they were changing their name to Cleared Channel

How about Cheaper Channel?

New KFNX 1100 slogan:
"We power down when we feel like it, and not a minute sooner!"

Although I will say maybe they got the message from the KFNX/KFNN
thread of a few weeks ago, as in every recent spot check after monthly
sunset they've been on night power/pattern.

Now as for Kay-Funn 1510... ::)

Premiere Radio Stations is the DBA name for the partnership between Scottsdale banker Lyle Campbell, who now holds (2/3 of the stock) control of the KFNX license, and the Battaglias. Battaglia still holds 1/3 of the stock in Premiere and still operates the station.

I saw F Battaglia at the ABA lunch today and when asked if he would give Imus a home he said, It didn't work the first time.

Why risk putting on quality programming when there are colon blow and gold salesmen willing to pay for wasting the airways?

I haven't heard any colon blow (BTW, there are no actual shows with that name) in AMD; last I checked, it was a local show with a host being paid to be there. Admitting that KFNX pays a guy to do a show to drive audience to the station might fly in the face of the one-sided arguments against them, but it would be the truth.

Does anyone know if Francis Battaglia's father, Frank Battaglia is still alive?, and if so, what sort of health he's in? I've always remembered Frank Battaglia as one of the industry's more 'colorful' characters, and acutally a decent soul.

Too bad Francis didn't turn out more like his old man.

Are you ever going to give it a rest old man?

6 Years later..you still saying the same lame jokes.

It's not a joke, it's sarcasm. KFNX is the joke.

I see they're up to their old tricks again today--at 5:30pm they hadn't
powered down yet (December "sunset" is 5:15, per the FCC AM Query
for KFNX 1100 Cave Creek). And lookee here, at 9:45pm they're still
running 50 gallons.

Too bad the FCC is lax in enforcing their power/pattern rules--a healthy
fine would be nice, and as they've done it so often and so rampantly,
pulling their ticket would be even nicer.

On a related note, KFNN 1510 Mesa was also still audible at 5:30 so I
suppose their version of the lamp timer is still stuck on 6:07.

Its a joke to me also. No hard feelings.

Just funny to come to this website after a good year, and see you still posting about KFNX.

Radio is so boring instead of listening to a show you enjoy, you worry yourself over when a station powered down.

Is that not weird? Or odd?

You are KFNX's #1 listener. Props.

Uh yeah, next time I get a diary I'll be sure to copiously
write down "KFNX." ::)

Say, did the Friendly Candy Company give KFNX an
exemption to their power drop for Christmas week?
(Yeah, right.) Last night and again tonight, they're
blasting into the 'Tuke well after monthly sunset.
