So, what do yall think of KFOX 95.5 in Lufkin?
There's a Classic Rock station - KTBQ 107.7... as far as the market needing a CHR... I agree.a_and_m_king said:They may only have one "tracker", but how much are they voice tracked? It's all in how you word it. That being said, it's small market CC radio. Voice tracking is the name of the game. I think the market needs a CHR and Rock station.
Demographics. A top40 demo is white female, and would fit very well here. However, a hip-hop/urban station goes for an african-american demo, and it would be very difficult to keep that up in this market.a_and_m_king said:I don't anything why that station flopped, but maybe it had more to do with the owners not marketing it well or managing to sell it well. The younger listeners are there. The companies just aren't willing to make it work.
Wait, wait, wait. I never said that white people don't listen to urban music. But primarily, they don't listen to Hot Jamz, they listen to CHR. Just as you said, KISS in Tyler... before it flopped to R&B, they were desperately trying to get the signal. Yes, KISS was CHR/M, not CHR/R. And THAT makes a HUGE difference. I believe a CHR/M would do GREAT here, as far as CHR/R or Urban.. I doubt it.hampsterdancer said:Well said A&m. I know from having talked to many Angelina College and SFA students--WHITE students--They DESPERATELY try to pick up Kiss out of Tyler. Gosh they must really hate CHR to go through that much trouble. If it isn't KISS, it's KRBE in Houston when the signal is clear. I think the stereotypers are screwing over the listeners there.
I would not for one second say that KFOX 95.5 markets to parents.a_and_m_king said:I still maintain that with a quarter of the population falling into the African American demo, a station could survive if done right. And a CHR/M station would survive with no problem. It marketed well, it would do great. No one wants to take a minute to get out of the box and do something different, though. It's a shame, too. The young people (teens, college students, young adults) could really use a station that cares about them and markets to THEM, not their parents.
Well, I would not for one second say that KFOX 95.5 markets to parents ONLY. There ALOT of kids who listen.MattKuhl said:I would not for one second say that KFOX 95.5 markets to parents.
