KFRC: Here's What I Hear...

Following a phone call and a couple of emails in the past few moments, I just received a very interesting tip to tune in to 106.9 FM this afternoon following A's baseball...

If the hints I've received from A Person Who (Probably) Knows is correct, this should great!

DJ

Oops... did I mention that the new call letters on 106.9 will be KFRC?

DJ

BossRadioDJ, I would hope that the new format includes John Mack Flanagan,, and Bobby Ocean for VO, Do the right thing CBS, its past time to give the Bay Area a Radio Station!!!!!!!

Oh, and MOViN 99.7 will be getting new and more fitting call letters...

BossRadioDJ,

For some reason, I believe you are an A's fan from previous posts? So I am assuming your good news (after I have watched the A's bullpen in person the last 2 nights) is that Street and Duke are fully healthy?

If I hear "We Built This City" after Robert Baun signs off the post game show, I'm going to be disappointed in you.

Hey, how about that Jack Cust?

I think if you're a fan of the real KFRC -- the way it was in the late 1970s -- you'll be pleasantly surprised. The stunting (from what I've heard second-hand) is going to be fun, too.

Ahhh... Ken Korach just mentioned on the A's 'cast that listeners should stay tuned to 106.9 for something new following the game...

DJ

If you're tuned to the A's game on 106.9, can you identify the voice on the "106.9 FM" liners that run between innings?

DJ

It also appears that some of the talk programming from Free FM 106.9 (Adam Carolla and Tom Leykis, most notably) will be moved over to KYCY/1550 starting tomorrow.

Leykis's Bay Area listeners will be relieved to hear that. Both of them.

ADD: Apparently there is a CBS press release saying that Opie & Anthony will also be on KYCY/1550 (KYOU) also, once their suspension ends.

I was just corresponding with a noted Bay Area journalist who writes a popular bi-weekly radio column for a leading metropolitan newspaper, and a thought came to mind...

I had heard recently that Don Bleu's contract at Star 101.3 FM (KIOI) may be up for renewal, but that Clear Channel is trying to skew younger with the station. If CC/SF decides to make a change (Seacrest via satellite, perhaps?), would The True Don Bleu be a perfect fit for the new KFRC?

...And for the few dozen of you who care, the radio museum's "Big 610" streaming audio has been -- as I expected -- rendered unnecessary, and was stopped at noon today.

Stunting for the "new format" has begun at http://sc3.spacialnet.com:9784/

BossJock is a smart ass. What *I* have revealed comes from the top at CBS. Boss Jock is a fraud.

I got 5 bucks on Boss

Shoot, Mom. If I had known there was money involved, I'd have put a few bucks down myself.

I think '47 was confused: my reference to stunting for the "new format" referred to the radio museum's "Big 610" tribute, which was done with the blessing of the great folks at CBS/SF.

And, for the record, I am not a fraud.

But I am a smart ass. A great big one.

Ummmm ... but Clear Channel -- notoriously cheaper than CBS -- would (and does)?

Why are there no links to a stream that works? This sucks rotten eggs!!!!!!!!!!! As usual CBS Radio Screws it up again! I hope someone is recording the change over.

Ooooops. I don't think that Robert Buan was supposed to make the announcement about KFRC (and read the press release) on the A's postgame show on 106.9.

He just got cut off in mid-postgame show...

Let the stunting begin!
