KFROG 103.1

Well today I was flipping through my FM frequencies up here in the Victorville area when I noticed that 103.1 KVFG is no longer KFROG 103.1. 103.1 is now 103.1 ESPN The High Desert Sports channel... What's up with sports on FM? I think if CBS rebroadcasted Sophie @ 103.7 on 103.1 it would get better ratings then sports or even if CBS rebroadcasted ampradio on 103.1 it would do well...

Well lots of markets have sports on FM. In Dallas ESPN Radio is on FM as well as the Fox Sports Radio affiliate. Boston also have an FM sports station. I just don't know if that works in SoCal. I remember years ago Clear Channel briefly put XTRA Sports at the time on 103.1 which is now El Gato & formerly Indie.

And we still won't know if FM Sports works in SoCal ... Victorville ain't L.A. or OC is it?

But we may find out eventually, just not with anything on 103.1 FM

When their entire linep consists of ESPN Radio programming, the Lakers, and the Angels, they should be able to make some $$$$, shouldn't they?

We shall see!! :-\ I Just don't see Sports on the FM dial lasting at all. I think CBS would do better with a KOST, AmpRadio, or Sophie farmat and doing well then with Sports. I will let you know what happens. I bet alot of KFROG listeners are not happy what so ever but thank god they can still hear KFROG on 95.1 or even listen to Kat Country 100.7.

Sports is probably the most easy to monetize of any format if it gets just a minimal 12+ rating, because all listening will be in 25-54 males.

The trend to putting talk and sports on FM is moving faster and faster, and has nothing to do with geography but with who owns what. The Victor Valley market is great fr FM, since the AMs have relatively limited coverage or are daytimers.

I doubt this station would do well... if it was in LA it would be a different story. Lets see how this station does, but where's the listen live link?
