KFSD change

Depends. He dropped classic for a month when the station was Fox 1450. Who knows ... punk country may have a chance.

When Is KFSD Going To Change?

So does this mean that Art Astor finally learned that classical music and AM radio don't mix?
So when is KFSD going to drop the Classical Music. As of right now, I am listening to KFSD Online and they are still Classical? What's the source?

Disregard my previous post. I spoke too soon. I found the info at SDRadio.neArt Astor reminds me so much of Saul Levine. He has changed his AM Stations so many times and back again, it is amazing. I wonder where Classical will move to next?

As of Feb 1st, KFSD will begin simulcasting the Adult Standards format adopted a month ago by KSPA Ontario. Try the link - you can listen online to get a sample--

No more so than the media conglomerates have done. Both Saul and Art seek to fill programming holes left by the 'big box broadcasters' when some format gets flipped because it no longer makes enough money to satisfy them. I applaud these two "mavericks" for trying to maintain some format diversity in the So. CA area.

What I would like to see Astor and Levine do is make sure their AM stations offer the best analog sound possible. AM stereo would be nice.

I agree except, that most media conglomerates will not switch a format back to the frequency's original format. For instance, Saul Levine has switched both 540 and 1260 back and forth between a new format and back to the tried and true Adult Standards format especially 1260. In fact give it time, both 540 and 1260 will go back to Adult Standards and 1450 might go back to Classical.

True. So far Country fans seem to like the mix of music on Saul's stations although not the fact that it's on AM. Hopefully, this is a format that will stay awhile.

The on air presentation of the syndicated classical music programming was atrocious (it comes from WCRB in Boston). I would vet that because of the older demos and the $$$ in North County it will be back somehow.

I don't think that it will. XLNC1 90.7 is much better

With Kingsley McLaren warbling and their jukebox approach to classical music, XLNC is a trainwreck not worth the electricity it takes to light up their transmitter.

WCRB is considered a first rate Classical Station to some and the flagship for a Classical Music network in the New England area.

If they are first rate, I would hate to hear the second rate station!

You think the hot rotation automated snippets of Top 30 classical hits on XLNC is superior?

That speaks wonders ...

XLNC "is programmed with the idea of making classical music interesting to everyone. We feel that classical music should not be elitist. It is our philosophy to serve, educate our youth and reach an audience that did not know they liked classical music. Our goal is to break the barrier to the classics and allow everyone to enjoy this type of music, which is truly beneficial and uplifting."

It sure beats anything any other broadcaster has put on FM in San Diego County and by a country mile beats that stuff that the old KFSD-FM used to do with its way-too-frequent breaks for commercials, endless stock market news, yacht race results, etc.

XLNC is to classical music as is a hot dog on a stick is to prime rib: it's corny and bears slight resemble to what it is I could be eating instead.
